Walmart is reportedly shelving physical copies of games
Ooooh, does this mean a good clearance sale is coming up? I'd love to add to my Switch game collection with some dirt-cheap hidden gems!

Or are they just going to ship back whatever they can and chuck the rest in a pit in the desert?

That it's being marked down to three cents doesn't mean anything. Every product has to have a price in a store's system, and marking something down absurdly low automatically blocks it from being sold, which makes sense if it's in the process of being purged. Being marked to something very low but realistic, like $10, wouldn't cause the system to auto-flag it and Walmart's smart to not trust their employees to catch it themselves.
How does that work? So, they mark it down so it won't be sold so that they can just get rid of it? I assume you worked at retail.

It's marked down that low to start the process of getting rid of it, since it blocks a sale. Next, they try to get the distributor to buy back unsold stock, or it gets returned if sold on consignment. Failing that, it'll get sold to somebody willing to pay anything for the product. Only after exhausting all other options does product get outright destroyed, because that's just pissing money away. Think of something like how Too Human shit the bed so hard it became illegal to sell.

Sales had zero to do with why Too Human became illegal to sell it was because Silcon Knights was run by a idiot who thought it would be a smart idea to try and sue Epic for “Breach of Contract” because they claimed that Epic was holding back a better version of Unreal 3 for themselves to use for Gears of War. Then Epic themselves sued SK for literally stealing lines of code from Unreal 3 for both Too Human and that X-Men game they did. Of course Epic won both lawsuits and Silcon Knights was ordered to destroy all unsold copies of the two games and that basically ruined the company. According to Dennis Dyack the game sold around 700,000 copies which for the time wasn’t a horrible amount considering games weren’t as mainstream as they are now. He could of course be lying about numbers but doesn’t really matter, though for some reason in 2019 Microsoft gave everyone with Xbox gold a free digital copy of the game.

Ive been thinking Starfield is the swansong of gaming. It really shows how video games in general have devolved into an absolute bowl of unsalted white rice bland nothingness. Nothing about the game was memorable, nothing about it was remotely interesting or stood out. You have one of the largest studios in the world spending a decade developing and throwing god knows much manpower and money at this game and the end result is a "functional" at best mess.

The fact they can do this and walk away from it like nothing bad happened without major restructuring and people being fired or fresh talent brought in is truly something else. Sure every few years well get something genuinely nice out of left field like Eldenring, but Starfield type games are the norm and will only get worse as time goes on. See what CoD has turned into, see what Battlefield series turned into, see how CP2077 initially launched etc
Is starfield the most coped over game out ATM? Like these niggas are trying to spin negative reviews as positive because of hours played and shit.

The stats show this game is practically a corpse vs BG3 that came out earlier.
I think its a byproduct of the hyper consoomer era we live in. Everyone's personality is entirely the products they consume so they will defend xyz product to the death because its not just about the product being bad and wasting some money, it means theyre fundamentally bad as well if xyz product is bad.

Apart from the re-birth of Cyberpunk and Baldur’s gate 3 I’ve had much more fun with £15 indie games than any AAA title. I can’t justify the cost of buying AAA games anymore unless it’s something that really really appeals to me. Even then I think, fuck it, wait for it to go on sale or hit Game Pass.

We need a few AAA publishers to die and a punk rock to happen in gaming.

1) There is something memorable about the game...it's horrid, staring NPCs that gave the game it's nickname: Starefield. The game is also so woke and filled with niggers that even normalfags are taking notice, truly something to behold. Remember, this is the game where a white couple has a mystery meat mutt daughter and a black russian called Vladimir that is heavily involved with the main quest.
2) The devs did NOT get away with it scott free: Pete Hines(S to spit) is retiring and others were let go as well, including one of the people behind Far Harbor DLC for Fallout 4, arguably one of the better pieces of Bethesda Content in the recent years.
If they can kick Emil and Todd out, then that will be even better

You’d hope this would be a good sign but you know they’ll just be replaced with pronouns of colour

though for some reason in 2019 Microsoft gave everyone with Xbox gold a free digital copy of the game.
If memory serves me right, part of the suit stipulated that they couldn't sell any future copies. Giving them away for free on the other hand...

retards thinking that cyberpunk was fixed are the reason slop like starfield gets made in the first place
Eh, Starfield was already well on it's way before Cyberpunk was even released.

That being said, the attitude is certainly not going to help things in the future. I think that Mass Effect 3 was the real catalyst of "fix it later" development, followed by No Man's Sky, but I'd love someone to point me out earlier examples.

it's easy to shit on SK, but they had legit grievances with the contract, otherwise they wouldn't have involved the courts. and when shit didn't work out they used a shortcut to meet deadlines which bit them in the ass.

if it was a one-time occurrence you could probably blame it on SK, like a "fool me once". however there was also that bluepoint lawsuit where they worked with epic to make unreal engine work better for pubg - only for epic to turn around and then release fortnite. legal? probably. scummy behavior nonetheless.

the final proof was the fortnite stunt and timmy going even more retard. trying to play the poor little underdog against fucking apple, with a prepared marketing campaign of all things.

besides the tencent shit ("our shareholders have no influence" yeah right) and epic being a litte too triggerhappy with lawfare, I'd rather use unity than trust that company. at least they just want me to fleece me for more money, not actively fuck me over.

I think it's less that "cyberpunk was fixed(it wasn't)", it's more that "wow, looking at both of these games, I gave cyberpunk way too much shit!". People are more sympathetic to a game whose devs gave a shit, but tripped and had their pants fall around their ankles in the process. Embarrassing? Yes, but they made up for it with DLC and updates. Plus, the devs made Witcher 3, a game many enjoyed so they're willing to give them a second chance.
Bethesda are an unlikable company whose entire existence depends on other people fixing their games...something they are not able to do due to lack of tools, and something they will be less inclined to do this time around even when they get them. People see the writing on the wall, Starfield is not going to have a redemption arc, nor does the game or studio deserve it

bethesda hasnt yet intentionally hided how bad a game ran on older hardware. what cdpr did with the ps4 version of cdpr was scummy as fuck and no retarded anime or dlc will change that

You have literally hundreds of posts shitting on Cyberpunk and raging at people who said they enjoyed it and you even wander into unrelated threads to start fights over it.

Why are you so insanely obsessed with this? You literally don't talk about anything else.

starfield is going to release a shitty dlc starring a tranny and everyone is going to exclaim how the game is fixed now despite nothing actually being changed
There's only like 3k active players at a time on PC and probably less on Xbone. I'm not sure there's even enough of a playerbase left to make a paid DLC profitable.

This is bad enough that they might just be better of releasing some free updates and moving on to something else.

didn't stop cybershit from doing the exact same thing
maybe they'll even make one of those pedo cartoons to attract the pedo audience

Even in its shit state Cyberpunk modding was active and some interest was there. Starfield has none of that. They also already did a "pedo cartoon(s)" as you put it but it only made the game look weaker as they came at a time when there was still next to zero gameplay material shown to the public.

Do you deny that anime is for pedos?
