Terrible color scheme aside, I'd take retro Steam over the latest UI update. It was completely utilitarian, which is exactly what a game launcher should be.

Maybe it's just hardcore nostalgia but minimalist and utilitarian UIs are the apex of design. Cramming news, achievements, cards, reviews, community guides, videos, and friend playtimes onto a single page is just disengaging. It's visual noise and I end up ignoring it allHow do I go back?

I agree. I want, at the very least, to have the list view take up a fair amount of the left side. I click library and then double click a game. I don't want any of this shit and OP is being a bit of a whiner because people want to have the choice of which library they want and are telling people how to go back.Terrible color scheme aside, I'd take retro Steam over the latest UI update. Is it available for public now? I got really excited when I first heard of it.I don't mind the changes, but I've been using GOG Galaxy 2.0 for like a month now and it's ridiculous how much better it accomplishes the same design decisions that Steam tried to do with this update.
Hey, the basic fact that their game covers actually WORK already puts it miles above Steam. What, your giant megacorporation that handles millions of dollars can't be bothered to implement proper covers and we're left with blurry horizontal messes, while some Polacks have managed to achieve exactly that, are you kidding me? Look at this beauty, like half those games' covers don't work in Steam. I've done what Keystone suggested and went back to the good ol' design, and it's working great.

It wouldn't be so bad if you could filter the activity feed to your tastes. Don't care about achievements? Fine they've fucked off. Don't care about community mods? GONE!Maybe it's just hardcore nostalgia but minimalist and utilitarian UIs are the apex of design. Sorry I hate mods in most games. They ruin the balance and often don't look like they belong when it comes to art assets. That's distracting for me.Criminal!
That’s why a lot of people love them. Hotline Miami (2) and Duck Game are two great examples of how crazy the modding community can be.Sorry I hate mods in most games. They ruin the balance and often don't look like they belong when it comes to art assets. That's distracting for me.
See i'm on the opposite ed of that scale. Oftentimes I just want a mod that does one hyper specific thing to satisfy a personal nit-pick and most mods are what i'm looking for + a bunch of extra shit I don't want. That’s why a lot of people love them. Not yet, I don't think. I put in two gog accounts to double my chances to apply for the beta, and the throwaway one got me an invite. Still, the client is really nice (you can even add your pirated games or emulated stuff or whatever and they'll be a proper part of your pretty library) and works like a charm, so I'm guessing they'll release it to the public quite soon.Is it available for public now?
Big picture was made for menu navigation using a controller while streaming to your TV with the steam link.I don’t hate the new design but then again I use big picture mode so feel free to throw my opinion in the garbage if you wish.
One thing that does bug me for BP mode though is it doesn’t cache the cover images for each game so when you try and play in offline mode everything is blank. Hopefully the new library UI does save the images?
Also it doesn’t give the proper prompts for syncing cloud saves either.
Come to think of it Big Picture is terrible.

HONESTLY JUST BE GLAD VALVE IS ACTUALLY INNOVATING AND TRYING NEW THINGS.
Wew that's some nostalgia. How do I go back?

Valve still makes games, they just never finish them.I wish they'd make new games.
The lootboxes were similarly innovative as the gas chambers of Auschwitz.
