Chinese MREs, gutter oil or not is not designed with the palate in mind as they rely more on actual field kitchens and First Strike Rations for the troops, only rolling out the MREs when shit hits the fan.

Meanwhile European experience with war means that they requisition grocery store canned food to be part of the soldier's mess kit. If it is good enough for soldier, it's good enough for a civie.

I highly doubt Chinese MRE's (Which are made by the state) would be of questionable quality

For all the bad that East Asia Communism is, one thing they don't do is fuck with soldiers food. North Korea, Cambodia, China, Vietnam...all of them have well fed armys.

One of the downsides to what Steve does is it opens himself up to bad actors who just want to watch the world burn. Someone may not like his politics or him and send him a ration laced with Nastyness or Fentnyal for example.

What he does is extremely dangerous

They definitely fucking are and they nearly killed Steve.

As others have pointed out, the actual food Chinese troops eat is usually mess hall stuff actually made on the spot, though. If they did have to depend on their MREs, though, they'd be fucked.

Yeah, a bit concerned myself. Maybe his fascination with MREs has finally run dry, though I doubt that in a man who thinks nothing of spending $1000 on a rare MRE, and seems to live on them at times. I am wondering if it's time to deply the Farm's autistic doxing squad to look into the identity and well-being of our favourite MRE enthusiast.

Or else maybe talk to some other members of the community who might know more? Myself I am not in those circles but maybe someone who is can stick an ear in and find out for us?

I fully believe that Steve will return to us, at least by Thanksgiving. This is his hobby; he's not a man with an uploading schedule.

MREinfo.com requires registration to view profiles, but some very lazy sleuthing (paging through a highlighted In Memorium thread) shows Steve alive as of September 6th.

He might be working on starting some kind of actual business based around his enthusiasm for these prepared meals. I got that impression when he started buying fairly expensive vacuum sealers and did that fairly intensive Thanksgiving dinner MRE last year.

It's a war crime that no branch of the armed forces has snapped him up to spend a couple years designing real MREs.

We still rely a lot on our field mess kitchens; MREs are issued by Supply/S-4, and nobody wants to bring them (read: do the extra work) unless it was absolutely necessary. During a lot of training, the only MREs we had were vomelets & stripped ones bouncing around from NTC a year prior.

But I don't think the Chicoms have taco/sandwich trucks that make daily trips out to the ranges & training sites; maybe they have donkeycarts that deliver wontons?

Steve's fine. His real job is landscaping full-time. He also comments much more often than he uploads on his Facebook fan groups. Last I can see was a little over a week ago.

I think he just curates his content very carefully. He probably knows by now that the ultra-rare, nostalgic, and unique foreign MREs are more interesting to viewers than contemporary, easily obtained MREs. He also has a loyal enough following that he doesn't need to churn out videos on a regular basis.

I've been wondering for awhile if he was serious about those Steve-brand thanksgiving MREs. I'd unironically give them a try

Still, nothing to scoff at. But he does it for fun and never could have expected eating mres to become as popular as it has. Steve's just gonna do Steve.

lolwut? North korea barely feeds its army. As in its not uncommon to literally starve to death serving in the north korean military. They even have a system where they send nearly starved to death soldiers home to be fed by their families, who themselves are half starved to death, with the idea that they will be nursed back to health and then sent back to their unit

North korea is famous for its military being virtually unfed. as for china, they don't give a shit either. They treat their own soldiers about as well as the founders treat the jem'hadar. Why would you expect their food to be of anything but the lowest of the low quality when they treat everyone in the country as expendable

Fuck yeah Steve is based beyond belief. My favorite video of his is him eating some venison stew from Sweden or something, anybody else got any favorites?.
Also I refuse to die until I get my hands on a fucking RCW chocolate covered cookie.
