If you go from a mansion to a trailer park at custody exchanges it can be kind of fucked up for the kids, who had no say in the divorce happening at all. it is separate from alimony or spousal support payments. No one argues about if child support is enough to live off of, they argue about if it is the correct amount owed under state law. From what I recall he gave her zero money for quite some time, so she may be paying down debt incurred since the time of separation, which was over a year ago.

The final thing is that a shitload of the support money goes to an attorney, and an unfortunate fact of contentious divorce is that your budget for an attorney is exactly correlated with how petty or upset the other person is, and how much they can afford (or how willing they are to file pro se type motions, either way). she is surely acting on her attorney's advice to plan for the future for herself and her kids, which will likely cost a lot of money bc I doubt crowder is going to let anything go. Making things worse, like by filing for full custody for no reason, is steve retardedly burning his own money from both ends out of pure spite.
While the outcomes in divorce are often unfair to men, divorce with kids is often inherently unfair to women. When a woman becomes a single mother the quality of man she can get decreases dramatically & permanently, the quantity of men willing to date her at all decreases, and the amount of kids she can have in future unions is limited by her age. That is not true for men. steve could start many families and abandon them serially if he so chooses. if she doesn't remarry, then she will likely face financial struggle, because mothers need flexible scheduling or other benefits that tend to lower the amount of money that can be earned or reduce the promotions available, and she has less of a work history to begin with. She put an incredible amount of trust into this guy and he betrayed that completely.
