Yeah, season 4 was kind of the beginning of the end when it came to worldbuiding. And the fifth one had too much random shit mixed in it until you got to the finale, which genuinely felt like it was just tacked onto it. Looking back, after the ending of season 4, you'd expect that the general attitude of the show would change, but...

"What is the animation code for being gay? Standing next to each other and looking at the person you like, of course." "lol crumbs"

"I still don't regret trying to portray a queer relationship in a tv show"

"I wanted to write about depression and hyper fixations and queer relationships but I was young and I didn't know how to approach those things in a way that would also keep me safe"

"To be cringe is to be human...."

I watched a handful of episodes and was thinking in better hands it would've not been so tumblry and probably been a mix of ATLA and Animorphs with the whole child soldier and alien invasion angle. But it was so goddamn gay. Didn't even have meme magic like MLP did.

"what's the secret animation code for being fay" I dunno maybe actually develop the characters and have them interact and give them good chemistry... oh you're just going to have them literally just stand next to each other. ok
I read that as "what's the secret animation code for being gay", maybe that was what fucked up everything after Steven Universe. I wanted to give it a try, especially for Blue and White Diamond but I don't think it's worth it.

Wow. Good for her for realizing how much of a wide-eyed greenbean she was when working on the show and got to the point she learned (maybe) from it and let some shit go. There were too many self-serving workers on that show that pulled all these characters in so many directions that to describe them simply is difficult.
Rocknaldo was HER DOING?!?? jeeeeeeeez she really was young. Or dong whippets.

.......Goddamn do I wish @Private Pyle was still active, he'd have the words I'm failing to have right now.

The article describing the spinoff is.....something alright.
Executive produced by Sugar alongside her partner and “OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes” creator Ian Jones-Quartey, “Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars” will follow up on the original show, tracking fan-favorite character Lars Barriga, described as an “eternal teenager and space outlaw.” According to the official description, the sequel series will chart Lars and his pirate crew as they “smuggle contraband, evade the authorities, and uncover the darkest secrets of the fallen Gem Empire.”

The original “Steven Universe” became a cultural phenomenon during its 2013–2020 run, earning a Peabody Award for its storytelling, diversity and emotional depth. This new chapter promises to explore the “past, present and future of the Steven Universe universe,” deepening the lore of the series that redefined modern animation.

Since this is still in Steven's Universe, there's no way Steven and/or the other Gems won't make a cameo in some way. I doubt Becky will be able to help herself and trust "fan favorite" Lars can carry this show without them. Then again she's got Ian JQ to tardwrangle her so we'll see (if CN lasts long enough for this to air 🚬).
