Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

Wanted to weigh in that I watched the first two or three episodes (I saw the first one and then like one or two later on) and found it extremely boring. I thought very little of the jokes were funny. I also thought that it looked bland and, while I like pink, I thought all of the pale pinkness was kind of eh.

Now Lion, the big pink lion, I like. But that's it.

Speaking of designs have you noticed how 98% of the characters designs are intentionally made ugly?

I mean it in the sense that Sugar, despite being an anime fangirl, and the show being a little animesque, she explictly avoided drawing cute anime girls?

Pearl is a twig, Rose and Steven are chubby (fat?), Jasper and Topaz are basically dudes with a wig, Amethyst is basically a midget and not in the "cute child sense", and so on.

I know someone will say that they like those and that they are cute, I am not gonna disagree with subjective taste or whatever. I actually like some of the character designs. All I'm saying is that they could've made them "anime cute", and instead, they obviously went with the "body positive" route.

That last paragraph... With what you point out about "anime cute"? I think that's what should have happened, similar in a way to Sailor Moon, IMHO. After all, this show is ripping off material from every popular anime under the sun, so why the fuck not?

Yeap. And, believe it or not, the designs were even worse in the pilot

This a super obvious "body positivity" SJW thing. But I think people don't usually complain at all, because, unlike other cartoons, Sugar actually made something original instead of changing some existing franchise (like making She-Ra super flat), so we only know of her versions. But the intent is still there.

Has there been any new episodes at all? The only way I knew episodes were airing was because of a hardcore SU "analyst" that would post a video up each time. But he hasn't posted anything on SU in months. Did Sugar fucked up?

I think there was supposed to be one last season after everything was "wrapped up" with the Diamonds, though I don't know when that's supposed to air.

That's so fucking frustrating. SU has this excpetionally idealistic message of "you can solve everything with love". No matter if you sometimes you have to use violence to defend yourself or save the ones you love (even fucking DBZ pulled that shit better), you can always convince the other party that everything is ok and they can't solve everything with words. Sugar is gonna pussy out probably, like always.

AND that's why anything DragonBall (sans GT, because that one sucks.) is more worth sitting down to, especially for kids. And that's FACT, honestly.

The last episode was the one where Steven reformed the evil diamonds by basically saying "NO U" to them. It's on hiatus again until the movie comes out.
