Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

I mean I would totally watch the crap out of an episode about Steven talking about his feelings about his mom or Peridot and Lapis hanging out and talking, but I'm willing to bet your average 12 year old would be bored to tears about it and would rather watch Teen Titans go to have a quick laugh.
IMO if they wanted to do a SU show right they should look at the pacing on Tenchi....thats what they wanted to model

Wasn't Steven like an extension of Sugar though? I recall there being an interview where she said that Steven shares some of her traits (one of them that I remember somewhat was her saying that Steven was jewish like her).
He was based off her little brother Steven.

So I know SU gets a lot of flack for character height inconsistencies, but it could always be worse.

On one hand, this is not my cup of tea by any stretch of the imagination.
On the other hand, I got a good chuckle from the piss being taken out of the original post.
Interestingly enough, both versions highlight the two groups who’d be interested in a character like Stevonnie.

I also want to point out that a limited series just means the length is set, not that it’ll be short, because that would be a mini-series. And the former animation guild director or whoever it was laid out a while back a bunch of inside info that all ended up coming true, including that there would be four more seasons after season five. Dude even knew OK KO was cancelled months before the poor bastards making the show got the bad news. So odds are this marketting is the show putting a lighthearted face on some dark shit like they’ve been doing literally since the first season.

So, I think this finally confirms that all that "muh subverted expectations, Rose is the best dead mom in fiction cause she subverts, muh complex grey morality" is being thrown out the window to make her the true villain huh

Also RIP Jasper redemption arc.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on any of these just yet.
For one, given that this season will apparently focus on Steven confronting himself (and after a season and a movie of pointing out Rose isn’t that great), maybe this season will balance it out by showing her in a better light.
And two, given the show’s track record of redemption, I’m sure Jasper is still getting redeemed. It probably won’t be easy and it will probably be the longest he had to redeem someone but I can see it happen.
There’s just so little to go off on with one trailer.

You know I've been watching a lot of critical reviews of the show recently and one thing I find funny is that the only thing the fanbase can really agree on is that the repeated hiatuses are god-awful.
And it got me to thinking.... What would have happened to Rebecca Sugar in the cartoon industry of the 90s or early 2000s? I mean, John K. was fired from Nickelodeon for failure to make deadlines on individual episodes by mere weeks, whereas somehow Sugar is allowed to put the entire show on hiatus for months at a time with no repercussion to her career.

Something tells me that if she got her start in the 90s she'd be an SJW version of John K. right now as she would have been fired and replaced within the first season. So why the fuck do they tolerate this shit today?
