I like the idea of a general troon board, and putting it in BP seems like a good choice since @ADHD and @Pineapple Fox are good mods and best gorls.

My only concern is that naming it "Gender Critical" will embolden unfunny man-hating TERFs to shit up the threads even more than they already do. Plenty of our TERFs are chill and just want to laugh and talk shit about these freaks like the rest of us, but there are definitely some who can't help but suck all the fun out of a thread with their seething vagina monologues about how trannies are bad because men are bad. And it'll only get worse if new users start stumbling in and treating this like any other Gender Critical community because that's the name they see on the board.

There were actually several people who raised concerns about making the board's name a radfem dogwhistle in the thread about repurposing the Rat King board, and they made some good suggestions for names that might be a better fit for this funny retard comedy webzone. I'm partial to @Hamplanet Fitness's "Area 41" myself — the board icon could be an alien head with the tranny symbol on it.

I'm also slightly skeptical on the concept, while being the theoretically the target user for this board. Gender Critical is an overtly political designation and while it's not a bad thing to make space for, the current configuration isn't ideal. Based on feedback in the thread, and guesswork as to the concerns of the boss, here is a solution I think would optimally suit the various audiences, as well as offer cleanish categorization. It's chunky because I care.

I suspect that the GC demographic is the overlap between BP and the troon threads (though if data proves me wrong shit I guess); GC users are a good fit for BP but the general tranny thread enjoyer isn't necessarily. If you want to mark out a pitch as 'gender critical' as a priority (and it's a smart opportunity to take), build it as a board of general discussion, off-topic, and maybe smaller/niche community threads like the brit troons, these are the threads that will benefit from being under BP. Add the tranny news megathread, allow serious discussion of sex crimes and the money behind Big Troon as well as tranny fashion, AGPs on dating apps, terf memes etc. It'll be smaller but a more coherent audience, probably a calmer welcome for newcomers, too.

Have the trannycows be a sort of genderist general that replaces Rat King in Lolcow Cults, it seems like it's being kept around out of legacy so memorialize that with Rat King thread tags for the old guard of the perverts' rights movement and retire dead threads to lolcows of history. Once you add in thread suggestions it's a respectable size, and hopefully this helps separate out the ideological side of the Tranny Question from the 'Kevin's getting his neovag repaired with cadaver flesh lol' content (true btw). Users will naturally overlap and crosspost, but there would be both a gender critical/womens' board within BP, and a gender neutral lol faggot tranny board.

I will once again remind people that

1) Never once in the last 10 years have I said the site is about unrestricted free speech. You've been here for a year so you you've just assumed this is true. It is a lolcow forum and I am proud of how our policies encourage free expression, but
2) I do routinely curtail posts which detract from the overall quality of the site.

There is a problem with posts of exceedingly low quality or deliberate derailment. If a thread is ruined by outsiders trying to instigate a fight, then those people who actually want to remain on topic are unable to have a productive conversation. This is a sort of soft-censorship. You can see this on /pol/ a lot every day. Sure, your on-topic posts are generally allowed, but so are the 50 threads about porn and age of consent that are constantly on the catalog.

Striking a balance between letting people say what they want and actually providing a useful platform is an extremely hard and very human task. I feel that one of the ways this can be accomplished is strictly defining a purpose for an area of the site. "This thread is about X, if you want to be anti-X go over here", or "This board is for XX. If you want to be XY, go literally anywhere else". You can see this work even on /pol/, where there's pro-Russia and anti-Russia threads running in concurrence to discuss the war/"special military operation".

There's still critical threads on TERFs and anti-feminist shit elsewhere on the forum. Good luck trying to say something pro-women in A&H. The reigning opinion in a large chunk of the community is that women were better off disenfranchised property of men with a first child ideally being born somewhere between 12 and 18, depending on how honest they're being.

The only quibble I have is with the name "Gender Critical". More and more TERFs are waking up to the fact that this term allows them to be plausibly mischaracterised as "alt right", "anti-abortion", etc.

The terms "Gender Ideology" and "Gender Identity Ideology" are often used interchangeably. Articles that talk about "gender identity ideology" and "gender critical" views are often headlined as being about "gender ideology", presumably just to save type-space.

Viktor Orban and the Polish government are notoriously critical of "Gender Ideology".

TERFs are very often left-leaning and are critical of "Gender Identity Ideology" aka "Transgender Ideology".

The differences and similarities between "Gender Ideology" and "Gender Identity Ideology" are not are what are important here. What is relevant is that for the above reason - and others - the term "Gender Critical" is starting to fall out of favour with TERFs.

(Another reason is that many RadFems say they are "gender abolitionists" rather than "gender critics".)

I like the suggestion someone made for calling this the "Gendersphere". I was also wondering about the "Trooniverse"?

The great thing about the Farms is that it has some self-healing qualities.

Whenever someone is being a sped, they get BTFOed. Fedposters and a-loggers usually don't last too long, especially those who are all about "muh stickies". Granted, there are some exceptions (and my God are some of them exceptional), but the particularly exceptional ones are fun to goof on if nothing else. Some of the more militant TERFs are a-loggy 24/7, but they'll just need to either fit in or fuck off.

If you're that worried about all the troon stuff being funneled into a GC subforum will suck the fun out of it, you're underestimating the BP gorls big time.

As someone whose female and visits most of these threads I'm glad they're being merged into one place because the sideshow would go off the rails and now I don't need to comb through my own posts to find the threads as they're all contained.

I'm a little salty I suggested it a year ago in the forum discussion [for a general tranny board to contain all the threads now here] and was told no though. Still pleased it happened in the end.
