If someone tells you that smoking pot helps them focus/function/work better, are they purely coping or could that be true/ sometimes true? Let's assume that person has severe unmedicated ADD and anxiety.

Also, how much is someone spending if they're smoking regularly/everyday?

Supposedly people with ADHD are genuinely able to focus better with weed, but they say this about amphetamines too and it's all outside of my experience so I don't know

Cost varies widely by where they are, in some states legal weed is so cheap that $100 a month is more than enough to stay high all day every day

I've found it to be true with products that have a high CBD to THC ratio, so not enough to get a high, but enough to take the edge off.

I'm legit medically diagnosed autistic and some other things I don't want to power level. I have been in treatment for over a decade for various issues, I am completely treatment resistant. Got a medical card and I'm functional in life, am off all the pills, and started getting my shit together. I can't recommend this for everyone but I'm also an extreme outlier case.

It’s mostly cope but can help with ADHD.
Used to spend around $150 a month when I smoked.

I find it really helps massively to keep my tisms under control

I've had a few tismo buddies who are deathly afraid of anything illegal and they've gotten into brownies or otherwise accidentally gotten stoned and agreed that it really calms down your ONE MINUTE TO WAPNERs even if they still won't touch it afterwards

wake and bake is fun enough for non-brain problem reasons too, but it really does seem to help keep your shit down to a dull roar

Its similar to the old meme of the surgeon taking a shot before going into the operating room. It can also help calm down my thinking so that it can be more ordered. Usually when I'm talking my brain is already onto four other things by the time my mouth has finished moving. There is a goldilocks zone where you aren't actually high but you get these effects. Something that is concerning is decreased sleep quality with prolonged periods of daily use. Not a magical medicine plant, but it has its benefits along with the drawbacks. I spend about $120 a month, but it can vary wildly.

If your work is creative in nature, like your a composer or stand-up comedian or something, then yes. if you're predisposed to wanting to rip off your coworkers heads and shit down their necks then I can definitely see how it would help. For anything that requires precision, focus or memorization it's counter-productive and they're just bullshitting you (or themselves).

If you're seriously committed to the lifestyle it's about an ounce per person per week. Prices vary by region.

Ok so I quit but used to smoke pretty heavily.

It's sometimes true. ADHD people can get an effect from any type of drug called "quieting the noise." It's basically doing just enough to shut off the constant buzz in your brain. In regards to anxiety, I could see CBD helping but regular weed will just make him more anxious.

Daily price could be anything from $10 to Snoop Dogg "81 blunts" with designer weed grown by obsessive nerds who make it their life's work. Nowadays a gram is basically $10 and a gram of hash is $15-$25.

If you want a decent heuristic about the real effects of weed just take what the fundies say, add it to what the stoners say, and split the middle.

It actually does not increase creativity. It can loosen you up but ideas come faster sober.

I don't know if I've got ADHD or the Tism, but I find I can concentrate and work longer with a joint on the go. That said I work in art and both my parents aren't right about the head so the chances of me having a normally functioning brain is slim.

Generally speaking though without weed I'm far, far more prone to picking my work to pieces as I go, getting frustrated, restarting the project numerous times and clocking bitterly out after three or four hours. Meanwhile stoned me can keep working for 20 hours stopping only to piss. Don't get me wrong I'm still constantly scrapping and reworking, but I'm chill about it and accept it as part of the process, it feels more like meditation than banging my head against a brick wall until something gives.

I could work without it and I do for all small projects, but when I've got a demanding, HUGE design that's going to keep me occupied for a good 10-60 hours I'm going to need something that can root me to my pen like the goddamn human printer I need to be.

This works with art (probably writing and music for others too, I wouldn't know) BUT given any other job in life it's likely to be more of a liability as you're casting asides your sharpness in exchange for a dissociating mugginess.

Not many jobs require that weird zen state though and there are many people that make excuses for their personal poison for me to buy, even for a second, that it helps your average Joe.

I never understood that weed can help some ppl focus. never the case for me. I just use it for relaxation once im done with everything else i have to do. personally, it doesnt make me unfuntional but it makes me being ok with doing nothing so its just a tool for procastination if done too much. also enphysema and shit your lungs will suffer lol. (btw weed is very cheap were i live like 5 bucks per gram even 3 if you buy in bulk)

I wouldn't say weed helps me focus, but it does turn me temporarily autistic depending on the strain. If I smoke and then get to work on a familiar/repetitive task I will stay focused and work the shit out of it, but if I'm just fucking around and getting high I will meander around doing dumbass shit.

It's 100% legal in my state and since I mostly smoke oils it's maybe 25-45 bucks every week/week-and-a-half. OP, if you haven't smoked before I strongly suggest starting with an indica or a strain that will give you a body high especially if you're using it for anxiety because that's why I started and at least for me, Sativa and Hybrids make me super self critical and paranoid and that's like the opposite of what you want.

Coping, weed is fun because it makes you stupid and lazy.

Used to know a guy who would smoke $300/week in dabs, no self control whatsoever.

The worst druggies will forever be the shroomheads who think they've figured out the secrets of the universe.
some tasks are more enjoyable while stupid and lazy but the stupid and lazy part is undeniable, anybody who says it helps them focus is retarded.
