That's only somewhat kind of true. The vast majority of suicide cases won't say it directly, but they'll drop tons of hints, consciously or not. A big thing in suicide prevention is learning when those hints are a serious call for help, and when they're just grandstanding.

Now that the "threat" is over, I wanted to point out that just because a medication is OTC doesn't mean it can't kill you. A girl I knew in college, was best friends with my wife's roommate freshman year, died because she ate a bottle of ibuprofen over spring break. She called her ex-boyfriend to let him know that she had done it and he hung up the phone on her. By the time her parents found her and got her to the hospital it was too late for them to do anything.

painkillers are in general pretty harmful, if theyre long-term or dosed too high.
Aspirin is quite infamous for causing gastric bleeding, but Ibu and co aint better at all. Its not a nice death too, since all painkillers have in common that they may cause hepatic failure.

i avoid taking painkillers in general, i dont trust them at all.

The only time you do is when you don't really want to do it, you either want attention or help that you're afraid to ask for. I had a wake-up call when I was in middle school and one of my friends killed himself because of a breakup. In 7th grade, for God's sake.

If it hadn't been for what he did, I probably wouldn't be here either. Luckily I had good parents who were also hit hard by it, and had the foresight to ask me if I had ever had similar thoughts. I had, for different reasons, and they got me help that I needed and I was eventually able to see that the problems I was having socially were temporary. Going to his funeral also helped to see what an affect it had on the people you loved.

Suicide isn't something that you broadcast if you're serious about it. Most people try to internalize it, and in many cases seems like it comes out of nowhere, from people you would never expect.

I'm always struck by Edwin Arlington Robinson's poem "Richard Cory".

In another post she says she's only had an appetite for a week, implying she gained at least 12 lbs in that time. She's lying (I shouldn't have to say that) and not very well.
