I may be wrong, being a grunt and all that, but the navy really doesn't have THAT many restricted MOS positions. I think the SEALS are, of course, and I THINK sub positions, but outside of that, it's open enlistment for both sexes. Ladies can be mechanics, jet pilots, armament techs, medical corpsmen, anything.

Also, IIRC, the Navy has a little thing called a "Bosun's Mate". If you're undecided or unqualified for advance school out of boot, they stick you in as an unqualified bosuns mate until you test into a speciality. Not only that, the bosun's mates have EXTREMELY fast promotion rates, because people want to get OUT of the position, but the navy needs them for "general deck hands" basically.

So yeh, something stinks about the whole "highest job in the navy".

If you write explicit porn on the Archive of Our Own for a fandom people know, it takes fucking effort to keep it from being popular, so it's not surprising to me that @Stray Sheep managed a hit with that. well i would trust someone with 5 plus years of training and who knows how many years of experience over tumblr confirmation bias any day. Without any formal training how do you know 'social dysphoria' is a thing at all.
