Every time I'm reminded she's dating one of her own imaginary friends I laugh, but it's so sad at the same time.

I notice her Imaginary Boyfriend Matt doesn't count as someone she's dating in person, so he doesn't count toward 'either I find a real partner of ill kms' (I doubt she even remembers she said that, by the by). There's all these little tiny contradictions and indicators she's self-aware about her own sad fakery - but most of her friends seem to be under 18/17, making her the oldest by comparison, and she's still hungrily playing these weird embarrassing games with them just so somebody, somewhere, accepts her. Even her little remark in the Vent dump that she needs people who like her for who she is, not cartoons she pretends to be on Tumblr. Too bad who she really is ends up as...well, Kayla.

That would require people who actually take her seriously. All the tumblrinas know this game, they're all playing it, and responding to the threats as if they're actually true breaks the rules. Remember Kayla's mom said that almost everything she says is a lie, and Kayla is usually fine, just hanging out. Tumblr and all related proxies are the equivalent of an MMORPG to people like this.

Well she's either lying or just...not very good at it. She claimed in one post she had tried to od on Aleve which is rather hard to die from. If she really did do it she's likely to just get an ulcer rather than die.

Suicidal idealism is usually a separate cognitive event than, say, suicidal tendencies. A person can say "I wish I was dead" and mean it and never do it, as opposed to someone who actually wants to be dead. Gallows Humor in psychology says that most people who mention they want to die just want to be heard and helped, where people who are suicidal actually go off and do it quietly by themselves.

That said, this person is neither. She says it knowing it'll bring a certain amount of attention from other people. She's using it as a buzzword, not as a threat or an idea. Anyone who DOES use it as idealism or threat SHOULD get immedeate medical help for their underlying issues (which proves she doesn't have any if her mother is totally nonplussed by all this talk.)
