If you don't know POE, it's like a modernized Diablo 2 and they do quarterly-ish "leagues" where everyone starts over and plays for a few months with new content and game rebalances. Real nerdy shit, I've blown at least 2000 hours on it myself.

Tons of people are angy at the new league, "Mirror of Kalandra", for a lot of nerfs to loot and other mechanics, especially at the super-no-life level of play like popular Twitch players. To be fair, they seriously downplayed how big the changes were in the pre-launch announcements while the promotional material had everyone hyped up. Big letdown if this game is your whole life.

Path of Matth, aka KMart Skrillex, is one of the biggest streamers and has been promoted by the company, GGG. His twitch and twitter:

He was banned today for shit-talking GGG and the lead developer, Chris Wilson, on his livestream to thousands of players and on Discord, apparently permanently (he can make a new account, but all his MTX skins, items, and characters are gone). A clip and some snaps:

and his I'm sowwy tweet

He's got fans but also a lot of haters for times he's flipped out on people who are now celebrating. This is his only game. I just think it's funny he bit the hand that feeds him after having spent thousands of dollars on cosmetic microtransactions over the years.

Never even played PoE, all I know the most recent update has made it amusing to see so many streamers trash the game that most likely got them where they are today.

I'm amazed it took this long for something like this to happen, what with how aggressively autistic that playerbase is by this point. They drove off most of the semi-sane fans by the end of alpha as GGG went all-in on making the game a nolife quasi-gacha grindfest, that was even more painful if you didn't spend $ to buy more stash tabs to hold enough orbs to have a snowball's chance at rolling good lewt upgrades. Coincidentally, that was shortly after TenCent bought a stake in the company.

Matth sounds like a complete sped but i still think its unfair to ban him when the only "crime" he has committed, was talking smack. not giving him his account back but offering him too make a new one, just to milk him out of more money is such a dickish move on the devs part.

i know game devs see their playbase as nothing more than cattle, now when there so many ways they can generate profit from their products but back in the day, game devs where atleast classy enough to pretend to care about their playerbase

So he still can make a career out of this, the main loss being the good item drops accumulated over years? IIRC not even the characters matter because they can be respec'd easily.

Items just rot in Standard league. but the ban itself is kinda BS considering it wasn't even said in-game, just towards kriss wilston.

I understand that, ideally people and companies would just have balls and ignore shit-talking that wasn't funny or constructive

On the other hand, GGG is full of autists from New Zealand who actually make one of the few good video games with this level of production value and they probably can't handle the pressure of a hate mob. If a high-profile streamer publicly insults individuals at the company, it will spread to followers and other streamers and their followers, and so on. I can't really criticize their choice, plus it's funny.

I can't believe GGG made an autistic grindfest game where you have to interact with other people to get good gear.

Interact? Lol. All buy/sell interactions has been facilitated by a bot since time eternal. The only requisite is that you do need a premium tab to list with but otherwise its all very much automated.

Every 3-4 months there is "new league"
It is patch that also adds new gimmick to the game .
For example there was npc that spawned on the map and summoned weaves of monsters. After each weave you defeated you could select what buff next weave will have. For each weave defeated you get item as reward...

To play new leagues content you need to create new char that starts from zero. Because all characters and items from previous League are transfered to standard League.

And streamers are always chasing that fresh content So lost items are probably not that big of the deal.

Streamers biting the hand that feeds them, then being surprised when said hand lightly cuffs them on the cheek - as mentioned this hardly torpedoes this nolifer's sad attempt to put off entering the labor force in a meaningful way - will never not be funny.
