New project I'm working on.

What is microdata?

Microdata is embedded information that turns human-readable text into machine-oriented tidbuts. This is used for search engine optimization. I've begun integrating microdata into our templates to try and increase our page rank and better serve content to Google searches.

Current templates affected by Microdata:
https://lolcow.wiki/wiki/Template:Infobox_person
https://lolcow.wiki/wiki/Template:Postal_address
https://lolcow.wiki/wiki/Template:UK_postal_address

I have implemented microdata already on Samuel's article.

This is an example of how Google reads structured data.

Why is this important? It can generate infobox blurbs like this on Google.

To reward you for using microdata, Google hands out better pagerank. Imagine this for Samuel and other lolcows, but with lolcow wiki data. That's the goal.

If we start getting infoboxes routinely, I bet within minutes we're banned from whatever generates those.

This is paying off huge. It's literally better SEO than fucking Wikipedia. How have they not done this yet?

hahaha, when google gets fed data through these magic SEO tags, does it just display it indiscriminately, or are there checks and governors in place to keep dang dirty trolls from, say, replacing that portrait in her dossier with your Wall of Wu Flesh face? or listing her occupation as "Pubic Lice Herder?"

Google's search results are very complicated and a multi-billion dollar project that people make entire careers out of trying to understand, but it essentially boils down to: what links do people click on the most, and do they quickly back out of the link after clicking it?
