Working my way through the Pilot Institute's Course for Part 107, was curious if anyone else here liked to fly drones, and also serve as a place to bitch about how retarded the FAA's regulations regarding sUAS's are and how annoying it is to have a visual observer while flying FPV.
Anyway, I've been flying a DJI Avata since January and I fly it nearly daily on lunch at work etc. I'm actually resuming my Part 107 studies because I desperately need a career change and I live in an area that's both developing and a popular tourist/wedding destination so Arial Surveying/Photography's a good possibility outside of real-estate opportunities.
Has anyone else here gotten their Part 107 and if so, have any of ya'll used the Pilot Institute's Courses on it? Further if you have used the Pilot's Institute AND gotten your Part 107, how necessary is the reading material? I did the first 25% of the course last year and didn't touch the PHAK at all and still scored 87%-90% on most of the tests and that book is dry as fuck so I'd like to avoid it where I can.
