I've been playing it with a friend and while it being more subnautica but with coop mostly saves it as a fun game (idk for how long, since you need so much god damn copper to expand your base we have zero desire to build a second one) one of my biggest issue is that it's hard to find the specific materials you want when you want them, so the game slams the brakes on at random til you discover enough fragments of the next tech you want (like rebreathers to die deeper).

But the WORST part of this game far is how nobody shuts the FUCK up. I have drowned multiple times because a fucking audio log goes on for 45 seconds longer than it needed to so I could hear the next location hint and the stupid lesbian uwu girls talking prevents the suit voice from warning you about oxygen.

Also the plot sucks its all multicultural good girls and boys shoehorning in how they're gay/religious/communist/mongolian/whatever the fuck because the game is terrified the player might think any of them are straight white men.

They replaced the WAY TOO MUCH TALKING in BZ from your character with everyone else god damn talking at all times nigger shut up about being an evangelist or dyke I want to explore the ocean.

Do they have the pajeet PDA voice like in BZ? That always struck me as an incomprehensible design choice
No, they're back to the neutral AI accent.

There is one explicitly jeet crew member, though. I only heard him in one audio log so far. The "main" character among the colonists seems to be French for some reason.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau nod maybe 🤔
Maybe, but giving her the callsign "Butcher" was a strange choice. Sure, she's a surgeon and that's a common nickname for those, but the voice actress' accent also completely butchers the pronunciation of her own callsign.

Sadly Zip isn't Asian because that would have been funny. Quaker meanwhile feels the need to fill me in on religious allegory, should have called her Jehovah.

Its less of a multicultural mess than it could have been but they still don't shut the fuck up at any given time.

The worst is when logs queue to play back to back and a minute and a half later my suit goes 'low oxygen' despite me being back on the surface for awhile. They're terrified of you missing out on awkward lesbian flirting or just don't know how to code the log pausing for suit warnings.

They really front loaded those, it's a weird choice given that in the first game they let you soak in the loneliness. They tapper off as you get further into the story though.

Thank god, I juat got to the tadpole pens and can finally stop worrying about air 24/7 (the heat caves are a retarded layout though) and the logs just never want to stop.

The other annoyance is that not EVERY log is shared in coop, but they sometimes play for both of us, so I have no idea what I'm missing.

I'm glad all these losers are dead.

Subnautica 2 is wokeslop. I just wanted to put a podcast on in the background and explore the ocean, but they keep forcing me to listen to some retarded clanker or audio logs from soulless third worlders crying about how much they are niggers.

I just want to catch fish and swim with fucking sharks while listening to MATI for fucks sake. stop preaching to me about your satanic occult queer globalist fetish religion. I'm sick of it and its cringe listening to the devs hating God and all that is Holy. it's not 2010 anymore. nobody cares. fuck.

If I ever get around to playing this, it will be for the sake of seeing how much was informed by Unknown Worlds failing to understand what people enjoyed about the original, or understanding full well; and hating their own audience for expecting gameplay and not the scoldslop the game is window dressing for.

They tapper off as you get further into the story though.
Likely because they haven't implemented more of them yet.

People already told them, in no uncertain terms, that they hated the endless talking and logs in BZ, yet instead of listening they doubled down, like they always do, so I predict they'll just keep adding more and more of them. The retards that purchased the game certainly didn't give them any reason to back off.

Gotta respect how minimalist the first game was with the logs. You get a few from the surviving crew, usually chronicling how they met their grisly end, you get a bunch from the crew of the previous ship that crashed on the planet (and most of those can be skipped), and that's about it.

The rest is just you and the PDA, and the knowledge you're completely alone on the planet.

You see this a lot more nowadays, where the writer is in love with their story and WILL force you to sit through it. Despite it not being interesting or engaging. The first Subnautica it was rare tidbits and didn't feel intrusive and served to move the player forward to the next part of the gameplay loop, Which is it being done well.

No one wants to listen to hundreds of hours audio logs that begin with a land acknowledgment and pronouns. I know writers want to capture the human condition, but I don't want to sit through the second lowest paid VAs the studio can find babbling into my ear.

Subnautica is about loneliness and isolation. It's just you, another voice is a relief even if it is a comms log.

Do you think there is any chance in hell someone will find a way to mod these audiologs and va lines out. Replace them with a text box saying something like:

I am a sad lonely FAGGOT, [here] is how you get to the next objective.

Or like a really southern chud who says the jist in 4 words.

I was a huge fan of S1, and less a fan of BZ (I hated the protag and all the talking, but it was still fun at times, if a bit different), and so far I'm not sure what to think of 2.

I'm not a fan of so much log overload, but honestly I've just been sorta tuning them out and not paying all that much attention so I couldn't tell you anything about the characters. I really like the Axum though. I like the concept, so far the execution has been interesting. I'm kinda hoping they wrap up the pioneer's stories and give us more of that stuff.

As far as the game goes though, it's fun. Not as good as the first game, but it's hard to compare them fairly since I played that as a full game, and this is just EA. I've been enjoying the multiplayer a lot, and I don't hate the whole active/passive bioscanner abilities. I just hope they don't take ages to update the game.

The only criticism I have (aside from hating the logs) is that I miss the verticality of the first game. There's a little bit of that in 2, but I miss the cool cave zones and stuff. So far this one has felt much more flat/step-shaped outside of the initial shallows zone.

The memes have already started to arrive.

1. Make game EA despite success of prior entries
2. Use the logic that it is so that the community can have input on the game's development
3. Gamers (2 million) who paid to beta test your game give feedback on your game, stating that they don't like that they can't kill even the smallest fish with a knife, as they could in previous entries in the franchise, (no one ever complained that being able to kill creatures was unfun).
4. Tell your supporters that they can suck a fat one because this is the game's vision.

Early access is crazy. No one can convince me buying a game before full release is worth it anymore, especially when the meme of developing the game alongside community input is so blatantly disregarded.
