Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster - 216 Mother Fuckin' Stars

This may be my first time playing these games, if anything wonky goes on in the translation please quote this with a link for a tech boomer to install whatever patch/mod I need to undo that. Thanks for the help!

So this dumb broad actually asks some good questions.

Konami specifically states that the dialogue boxes were small because of Japanese text (which can convey a lot of meaning in a few characters) which caused some issues for the original localisation.

They outright state they made the dialogue boxes bigger in the remastered versions to alter the translation so that "it's closer to the Japanese meaning".

That actually gives me hope.

People seem pretty happy with the Castlevania and TMNT collections
The Castlevania gameboy advance/DS collection is mostly good; there's unnecessary help with Circle of the Moon telling you if a common enemy has a valuable tarot card or not, which is kind of game-breaking for a first playthrough, and it's an option manually. I know it's splitting hairs, but I don't think it should do that. I DO appreciate the loot/XP guide in the menus, that's nice to not have to go to GameFAQs to check. My biggest gripe is that you can't adjust audio levels like, AT ALL. But I like steam achievements so I eat it.

My favorite parts of the Suikoden series are the parts that carry over. I love the ditzy portal girl that is lost and in every early game, that somehow is part of every different 108 stars. I guess she's the REAL protagonist, sending minions to put out fires in every major kingdom.

If this sells well enough, I wonder what the odds are of Konami making a new standalone entry in the series? Knowing Konami, they're probably just doing a remaster as a quick nostalgia-based cash grab to supplement their income from pachinko machines, but it'd be interesting to see how a hypothetical Suikoden VI would stack up against Hundred Heroes.

I loved 5 personally. The acting was cringe, but the game was still good enough in most other respects to overcome it.
It balanced out the influence of magic v. politics that most stories fuck up the best. Like, with 2, I forget why people are rallying around this kid and his tomboy sister when guys like Flik and Victor are around. Sure, the Shield rune can heal and all, but it's not deciding things on the battlefield. The Dawn rune actually is useful on a battlefield and the Prince does have some claim to legitimacy even though princes are considered a joke in Falena.

In fact, they seem to have uncensored some stuff involving alcohol and smoking. Still, I'm not very far into it, so maybe some gay localization shit pops up later.
My only complaint and it's a really small one, was I was hoping they would backport the QoL S2 introduced like the convoy system and superior inventory management into S1.
Yeah, I was hoping for this, too. Maybe even allow characters to have multiple rune slots.

I think the biggest problem I can see people having is the updated world assets clashing with the untouched character sprites. Personally, I don't mind it.

My wallet is beginning to open. I hope to hear good news!

Great, it's not made for the modern audience. Side note, FF6 had the best way of getting around censorship for the SNES version. Calling the alcoholic drink "cider".

Not far into it but it seems they fixed some bugs at least. for example Marco in rockland had a bug in the original Suikoden where the coin would always land under the right cup. This is not happening anymore. My only gripe so far is that the world map has this uncanny 3D objects for cities. I would have preferred some nice pixel art like in the original
