Super Smash Bros.

Eh, sorry, I prefer Crono. He's not a villain, but he has cool techs he can perform by himself or with his friends.

Sakurai has nothing against obscure games with niche fanbases, his original picks for Melee included Lip, Mach Rider, and the chick that's the friend of the main character in Famicom Detective Club. Its Nintendo who mostly has a problem with that (although Ice Climbers were, somehow, okay).

I'd love for Lip to finally get in, actually. Especially since they've acknowledged her in the Welcome Amiibo update for New Leaf and outright added Panel de Pon to the international version of the SNES Virtual Console on the Switch.
Going back to the Steve trailer, I would not doubt that Sakurai had thoughts about other characters they could've picked as he and the team are slaving away with Steve's block shenanigans.

Also, I can't help but think about his presentation with Terry had him talking about Fatal Fury like the fan he is compared to him talking about how Steve's mechanics were a pain to code.

Despite that, it still doesn't stop him from giving them the love that they need and giving the fans of the character a real treat.

I know it will never happen but I'm still holding out hope that they put my waifu Kumatora in the game, but they won't because she's not a big hype character since she's from an "obscure" game that has a niche fanbase.

But realistically speaking I'm very surprised that they haven't introduced a Resident Evil character yet, considering the RE series was almost entirely Nintendo-exclusive back in the early 00's. Their pick for a RE character would probably be Chris since he's kinda the "main character" since he's been in the most games throughout the series.
If they were gonna use a RE character, I'd imagine they'd use Leon Kennedy entirely from the popularity of RE4.

Final Fantasy was Nintendo-exclusive until 7, and now we have two FF7 characters and fuck all from the Nintendo FFs. If ever there were one game that curbstomped the N64 in its day, it was Final Fantasy VII, the game that put RPGs on the map outside of Japan, and the first FF to see a release in Europe (despite having a horrible Spanish translation). I think the only game on a Nintendo platform with Cloud in it before he was released in Smash 4 was some GBA Kingdom Hearts game.

Nothing to say, just thought this was funny

They keep blurring out zero's face and it's hilarious everytime it happens. Also, apparently all of D1's footage in the doc is replaced with other players.
Wonder what Zero is up to.

He's a faggot but I wouldn't mind some move analysis videos for upcoming fighters. Dude knows his casual party games. And the comment sections would probably be fun. Although watching our glorious sanitized future where all uncomfortable aspects are systematically removed or censored is also uh... fun?

Huh, so this is how Nintendo plans to get rid of all their current bad press.
What bad press? Pedophiles whining about not being able to use an old video game as cover isn't bad press for anyone but the pedophiles.

And branded peripherals being sold off the back of a dead guy without the family's permission? Yeah. Totally bad press for Nintendo.

I don't understand the hate for having two FF7 reps. It's a unique situation where Sephiroth always finds a way to torment Cloud - even in different games.

He followed Cloud to Kingdom Hearts, he followed Cloud to Ehrgeiz, Puzzle & Dragons, Itadaki Street, etc - so it really was just a matter of time and it's like Cloud and Sephiroth are having their own separate game spread across various games.
I honestly just feel it is Smash culture + the current amount of characters we have left.

I myself am a bit disappointed because I would rather new 3rd party come in. Even if the Sephiroth thing is very in character for the games, I just would have rather had Crash, or 2B, or just something that lets a new franchise have time to shine.

I think it is also the idea that if they were going to have two unique characters from one third party, there were much more loved characters. Sonic has been with the series since Brawl, so one would expect Eggman to get in as the first 3rd party villain seeing as Sonic is the longest standing 3rd party, has the most history with Nintendo, and has the strongest base within the Smash community. Really, Sonic and Mega Man always seem to be the go-to for this with a majority of the community, so they probably should have gotten another icon first.

God damn, by this point I'm pretty sure anything can happen. I still think Geno will never happen and Sora is way too many legal hoops to jump through, but I just don't fuckin know anymore.
Sora’s legal hoops aren’t as bad as everyone thinks it is, the only thing Nintendo has to do is talk with people at Disney and get the rights to use him from them. The only caveat is that Disney wold ask for Nomura’s blessing before giving Nintendo the go-ahead. If fucking Funko can get the license to make vinyl figures of the KH characters then I’m sure as hell Nintendo could get Sora into the game if they wanted to.

The real issue is if Sakurai could ever add him in without compromising on Smash’s whole “celebration of video games” thing that Smash is founded on, it’s worth noting, if rumors are true, that Sora was created as a compromise due to SE and Disney fighting about which Disney character to feature as a playable main character (Disney wanted Mickey and SE wanted Donald) his original design is HEAVILY based on Mickey. There are also rumors stating that Disney is still pissed with Nintendo signing that theme park Deal with Universal.

That's true to some extent, Chain of Memories (the GBA game in question) was his EARLIEST appearance on a Nintendo console. He's made appearances in other titles since then and two of 'em (Theatrhythm FF and Theatrhythm FF Curtain Call) and are part of the Final Fantasy umbrella.

Cause Final Fantasy has a long history and their are a lot of fossils like me that think the series peaked at 6, but 7 gets all the love cause for a lot of people it was their first Final Fantasy. I could make a big autistic list of FF characters I'd be excited for over Sephiroth.

Small consultation the Mii Fighter costumes have been getting better (I legit treat Vault Boy as an official member of the roster), and they're usually a couple tied to the new challenger. Maybe I'll get a Cecil, Onion Knight, Kefka, Mog, Sabin, Marche, Vivi, Bartz, etc there.

Don't forget that FFVII itself is now available on switch, there even in a physical version that is bundled with FFVIII on one cart. Granted, this is well after he was added as a DLC character in Smash 4, but it's better than nothing.
