Since this show actually shocked me with how good it is, I thought I would start a thread on it.

You can watch it for free here: https://www.cwtv.com/shows/superman-and-lois/
If you have AdBlock on, no ads will play.

Really enjoying it so far. I am enjoying how cinematic it is for a TV show. Feels like it should be on HBO Max, not WB's shitshow channel. Here's hope the CW doesn't turn it into a teen drama.

Wait...a CW DC thing starring Superman that is actually good?

WHAT?!
Watch the pilot, it's so great it's shocking.
I really like this more original and frankly interesting take on superman by making him a veteran superhero who has to balance being a father to two teenage sons and superman.
Thats the other thing. That should be the worse part, its one of the best.

I find it hard to believe that it's an actual CW show considering how good it is. I just hope it doesn't turn to shit later in the season or next season.

I finally watched the pilot episode and yeah! Its good!

Is this set in the same continuity as the Arrowverse because it sure doesn't feel like an Arrowverse show. Its a nice simple family drama with some Superman stuff thrown in, at least thats the impression I got from the pilot.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I can't really stand Tyler's Superman, the dude from what I saw on the crossover episodes always looks like he is on the verge of tears in every scene he is in, but I've been hearing great things so i may give it a watch

Yes, Clark and Lois having twins instead of only Jonathan is a consequence of the Crisis on Infinite Earths event.

In the new timeline of Earth-Prime they were also born in 2007 instead of 2019.

I want to believe.
Give it time. Every CW show follows the same pattern. Initial episodes are good, then it turns into a soap opera. Love triangles, "I can't trust you because you kept a secret from me", "Why didn’t you tell me about the child you didn’t know you had!?”

The entire point of CW is that it allows for lower salaries and budgets. One episode of Wandavision is almost the cost of a entire season of a DC CW show. The only thing which shoots for cheaper, maybe, is a Hallmark movie of the week.

Now that’s just not fair at all.

Batwoman was always fucking terrible.

So many shows with actual potential getting cancelled. Batwoman is quickly renewed despite doing like 450k viewers a week.

CW would rather stick with what it knows.

I get what they were going for with this, but it's still stupid as fuck.

Now that I think about it, the same could be said about pretty much all of the CWverse so far.

So, they couldn't resist making one of Clark's sons a terrible "relevant" potential Pumped Up Kicker?

Jesus fucking Christ, the Rodge truly achieved immortality.

The Stranger being a Luthor was a misdirect as this week’s episode revealed his true identity as John Henry Irons aka Steel.

The episode also had Jordan wearing noise-cancelling headphones like a literal autist as he struggled to cope with his superhearing coming in.

So I picked this up and gave it a try based on lots of people online raving about it. Found this thread which never seems to have got that much attention. I've watched the pilot episode so far, which was pretty long.

The production values and the cinematography are excellent - way above other CW shows in the family. No doubt about that. The main guy playing Superman is decent enough. Maybe a little short but not everybody can be Brandon Routh or Christopher Reeves. He looks decent, can act and comes across in the show as a good person, so happy with him. Lois is not really very engaging to me and frankly, I worry about how thin she is! The kids, well I like Jonathon. He seems pretty well-adjusted and a nice guy you'd want to hang around with. Jordan Kent is a bit of a dick and a little bit creepy. I get School Shooter vibes from him. He's an ass to his parents which they don't deserve. Yes, a realistic teenager - just that doesn't mean I like him.

That also segues into some of the things I don't like. I don't like medicating kids and it's impossible for me to not think less of Clark and Lois in this show that they're pumping him full of pills for "social anxiety disorder". Especially not when it turns out the kid has super-powers.

Too early to comment on "Captain Luthor". Maybe good, maybe awful. Given this is a spin-off from the Arrowverse shows (though seems to have little connection), I worry this is going to end up with Trump expys. Right now I'm 50/50 on whether to carry on with it.
