Only if he chops from that part of the blade. If he were stabbing his enemies with it, it wouldn't do as well as a non-serrated blade. It may be wanting to look bad-ass like Link. Even then, the attempts at looking bad-ass doesn't go well with the sword and the faces they make along with their appearance makes it look more like a joke.
