Figured as much. I really hate the membership content shit. Who provides actual value per dollar with paywalled content? Sam Hyde? Most of it is Q/A and private streams/out-takes but Synth's offering is particularly lazy. He doesn't have a Lotus Eaters style network or a big podcast generating tons of throw away content and he is open and accessible, spilling spaghetti on stream every other night, so you don't need to pay for access.

His half assed monkey see, monkey do monetization strategy is going to cost him trust if he ever does come up with something to offer members that makes more sense (like a full stream archive Academic Agent style, which still sucks but is better than this).

I did watch both of Devon's videos and they are pretty good. The Multiplayer one is a little unstructured but he did a good job with Pokemon and running off all the problems.

Aside, but I could see the AAA game potentially fucking Gamefreak. AAA development aint cheap and this risk has only gotten worse. It also wouldn't be the first time Gamefreak is in financial trouble.

He's basically emulating the overly dramatized/exaggerated tone of Japanese media, par for the course for a Japanese I'd say. I'd give the games a chance if it wasn't for them being walking simulators.

We'll know for sure if Kojima is a hack once Physint comes out; It's supposed to be an mgs successor of sorts.

Metal Gear Solid is similar to GTA and Silent Hill in that when these franchises were amazing, it was because the games were closely modeled after films. Even GTA IV was good to the extent it tried to copy The Sopranos. Kojima is an auteur, but his gift is mostly taking something that worked in another medium and translating that to video games (Snatcher and Policenauts are just Bladerunner and Lethal Weapon). He probably believes it's his wacky kojima hijinks that made his games amazing but it was the combination of his weirdness with stuff like Cold War thrillers, Bond films, and cyberpunk that made it great. Modern Kojima shit is like eating a cake that's only frosting. Pretty good at first but you start to feel something's missing real fast.

Sam Hyde makes a lot of shit too that's not worth even watching if I'm going to be entirely honest. Membership content is ass and I assume it always will be ass which is fine by me. He could do something with some of the shit people ask him a lot and make them a mini review like he used to or whatever.

They were also insanely mechanically interesting. What with making people surrender, causing hunger and trapping NPCs.

I probably won't ever play Death Stranding, but it's not exactly a walking simulator, if you're avoiding it because you think it doesn't have any gameplay, you might want to try it, although I've heard people say it's not the sort of game that really has wide appeal.
