Ta-Nehisi Coates to write new Superman movie produced by JJ Abrams for Warner - "What does the N stand for?"

Are there even that many conservative superheroes? I guess Ultimate Captain America could err on that side of the spectrum but I'm drawing a blank otherwise.
In all likelihood, the super rich heroes like Batman or Blue Beetle would at least be fiscal conservatives. Ollie is kind of the exception there as his characterization has always been "liberal millionaire crimefighter". Hal Jordan has typically been portrayed as a more conservative hero and some other heroes who served in the military like Captain Atom have also been written as conservatives.

EDIT: I'm also fairly confident that The Punisher doesn't vote anyone anti-gun.
No saddly because Icon is a black Republican (even his own creator hates him now saddly)
It's a shame Dwayne McDuffie got pissy about Icon being a conservative because people he didn't like (namely Clarence Thomas) enjoyed the character. Yes, Icon was conservative but he had Rocket around to be his ideological foil. She challenged his beliefs and he would challenge her's as well.

I never understood why he was like that. If you didn't like that black conservatives liked him so much why did you make him relatable in the first place?

I have no idea and the archive of Dwayne's blog post talking about it won't come up for me. If I had to guess, he probably had a similar reaction to Dave Chappelle's breakdown during the Chappelle Show where he saw people using some of Icon's spicier takes not realizing that his intention was that Icon was wrong in those instances. I know he did mention a few times struggling to write Icon because he was constantly wondering if people would take the wrong meaning from his work.

I'm sure one other factor that he'd never publicly acknowledge was pressure from peers in the industry and other black writers. We know how crazy liberal a number of high profile people in the industry are these days and I'm certain a few of them came down on him hard when it came out that "Uncle Clarence" was a fan.

What I don't get is why it is so hard to make Flash and Cyborg movie ?

I mean have the first Flash movie be Barry getting his dad out of prison and finding out about Reverse Flash and him killing his mother. Have Batman play detective and proving Barry's Dad innocence. Then you get a proxy father/son relationship between Barry and Bruce.

As for Cyborg, he lives in Gotham so have him take on the Rogues Gallery. He is asked to take over for a weekend from Batman. It ends up being a long night/weekend dealing with all the criminals. But on the end he deals with it beautifully.

So did that deal where Discovery bought WB killed the movie because I haven’t seen any development on this.
Likely not at this point, that merger hasn't happened yet, so they really can't be doing shit like that yet. Also worth noting it's they not buying it's this weird merger shit, so who knows how much power Discovery heads will have.

But if I was a betting man, the Black Superman TV show about Val Zod has likely killed this and I wouldn't expect to hear anything else on it.
