Well we did have a half Japanese Superman back in the 90sWasting a slot that could have gone to Chinese Superman or Gay Superman.
It could almost pass as a Kryptonian name.

No saddly because Icon is a black Republican (even his own creator hates him now saddly)If they wanted a african American superman.
They could have just made icon movie
In all likelihood, the super rich heroes like Batman or Blue Beetle would at least be fiscal conservatives. Ollie is kind of the exception there as his characterization has always been "liberal millionaire crimefighter". Hal Jordan has typically been portrayed as a more conservative hero and some other heroes who served in the military like Captain Atom have also been written as conservatives. Are there even that many conservative superheroes? I guess Ultimate Captain America could err on that side of the spectrum but I'm drawing a blank otherwise.
It's a shame Dwayne McDuffie got pissy about Icon being a conservative because people he didn't like (namely Clarence Thomas) enjoyed the character. Yes, Icon was conservative but he had Rocket around to be his ideological foil. She challenged his beliefs and he would challenge her's as well.No saddly because Icon is a black Republican (even his own creator hates him now saddly)
I never understood why he was like that. If you didn't like that black conservatives liked him so much why did you make him relatable in the first place? In all likelihood, the super rich heroes like Batman or Blue Beetle would at least be fiscal conservatives. EDIT: I'm also fairly confident that The Punisher doesn't vote anyone anti-gun.

I have no idea and the archive of Dwayne's blog post talking about it won't come up for me. If I had to guess, he probably had a similar reaction to Dave Chappelle's breakdown during the Chappelle Show where he saw people using some of Icon's spicier takes not realizing that his intention was that Icon was wrong in those instances. I know he did mention a few times struggling to write Icon because he was constantly wondering if people would take the wrong meaning from his work.I never understood why he was like that. Likely not at this point, that merger hasn't happened yet, so they really can't be doing shit like that yet. Also worth noting it's they not buying it's this weird merger shit, so who knows how much power Discovery heads will have.So did that deal where Discovery bought WB killed the movie because I haven’t seen any development on this.
Quick side note. Are there even that many conservative superheroes? I guess Ultimate Captain America could err on that side of the spectrum but I'm drawing a blank otherwise.
