They're like parrots saying that DEI acronym, which I can't remember ever hearing before. It has the same uncanny feeling as everyone talking about "social distancing" like it wasn't a completely made up phrase as soon as the pandemic bullshit started. I'm just going to .zip it and put it on MEGA or make it into a torrent, I guess.
It's got all Sourcebooks, almost all Convention Mission Packs (there's about 8 missing), the real issue is that I only have 13 novels out of 48.
Also, the Opera Web Documents are actually PDFs, I just have them designated like that because that's how I like to read them

Seems ambitious, and I'm not so sure about D&D with androids and laser rifles -- yet alone a literal LARP system baked in + a LARP campground, but for $105 after shipping I just can't say no to a way to tell the purple haired fuckwits to die in a fire.

Don't look at it as D&D. It really isn't. It's whatever else they wanted to do, coasting on D&D nostalgia.

That's going to be the deathknell of this thing. Everybody is going to buy it thinking it's a return to the "glory days of AD&D", and then get burned when they find out it's the 80s Heavy Metal movie in RPG form. I'm a fan of the aesthetics, but I know a lot of edgy boys out there will hate it.

Fair enough. I was using D&D to mean "old school tabletop" but yeah.

I'm warped though, I don't think 80s Heavy Metal Movie when I hear "Tabletop RPG with androids and guns," I think SaGa and SaGa 2, heh.

I will give Games Workshop their due. After a few years of whimsy, they remodelled themselves as a hard-nosed company and then never looked back. They have been consistent in riding roughshod over the wishes of their fans. YouTube is home to some alarming, Stockholm Syndrome-infused tales from former employees. Every generation of table top gamers will have a story of how they were fucked over by GW.

For me it was when White Dwarf transformed overnight from a publication focused on the broader RPG community, to an inhouse magazine that endlessly cajoled you into purchasing expensive miniatures and sourcebooks. The early issues were a competent mish mash of articles and scenarios - A smattering of AD&D; a little Traveller; whatever RPGS the company was licencing from Chaosium, ICE or West End Games. There was a book review column and a letters page that erupted into a bitter dispute over whether younger gamers could be trusted with the hobby. There were cartoons -Thrud the Barbarian; Goobledegook; The Travellers, with its indecipherable artwork and dialogue. If you subscribed you would occasionally receive a copy of a fanzine called The Black Sun.

Overnight all of that vanished. It happened so fast, it felt like a coup. From there-on it was Warhammer, front and centre, along with inhouse board games like Dark Future that were more style over content, and that GW would promote relentlessly for a few months and then drop without warning.

This had a detrimental impact on the hobby. Early White Dwarf, through the breadth of its gaming coverage, introduced people to RPGs they may never have otherwise discovered. When the magazine went inhouse there wasn't really any publication left filling that niche. Dragon / Dungeon were TSR's inhouse D&D / AD&D journals. Warlock was actually pretty decent but was aimed at younger readers and didn't last long. Imagine was mostly dull. I think Games Designer Workshop (GDW - who put out Traveller. Twilight 2000, and, later Space 1899 and Dark Conspiracy) may have produced a magazine at one point, but I couldn't tell you what the title was.

When I was gaming (I don't anymore) my favourite RPG retailers were my local independent (which I can't name without power-levelling - I still get pangs of nostalgia whenever I pass the unit where it was located); the Virgin Game Centre on Oxford Street, in London (pretty decent and run by nice people), and finally Games Workshop. There was always a weird culty vibe in those GW stores. From what I hear it's got worse.

You can check out the PDF share thread on /tg/. The archives tend to have most of the bigger games, but I've found it's not quite as extensive as the Trove.

FYI the Trove ripped most (if not all) of its content, as well as some of the file structure, from the /tg/ troves. A lot of /tg/'s troves got taken down due to DMCA's and people getting fed up with others bulk-dling and making troves impossible to access. The Trove served as a somewhat reliable mirror up until now since it seemed to be immune to these problems, but not anymore. The new owner deserves it for being a retard.

But yeah I recommend looking through their archives. Most things are sorted by publisher or system. Just don't be a retard and post the direct links to their troves wily-nilly otherwise shit gets taken down real fast due to bots. The links are obfuscated for a reason.
