Tabletop Roleplaying Games (D&D, Pathfinder, CoC, ETC.)

I'm playing the Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines PC game and I really want to get into the tabletop. Like most tabletop games, I'm guessing it fell into the trap of dumbing down and inclusivity. I'm getting back into tabletop and started with D&D 3.5 with some older books (just a reference to give an idea of where I'm at with tabletop). Any suggestions for where to start with non-wokish Vampire manuals? I also been looking at Call of Cthulhu for another horror themed RPG. There's an Alien RPG I stumbled upon that looks pretty decent. The reviews are good but has anyone here played it?
For classic VTM flavor: Chicago by Night 1st & 2nd.
For Vampires actually doing Jyhad kind of correctly: New York by Night
For Vampires behaving like psychopaths: Montreal by Night
For Vampires acting like utter dumbasses: Mexico City by Night
For sheer 'WTF even is this game?': Berlin by Night

What the fuck was that author babbling about?

For fuck's sake, back in 1E EVERYTHING was suboptimal.

See, back in the bad old days, there was a real ass kicker to offset the multiclass bit available to demihumans.

Max level by race adjusted by primary stat.

That's right. Your elf could be a max of like level 12 MU. That's it.

The game was a lot more player unfriendly back then, instead of a power fantasy jerkoff session.

Anything but a straight human was suboptimal, and even then, humans had their own issues.

This just goes to show that the person writing the article knows NOTHING about TTRPG's beyond what they looked up on wikipedia and what some troons whined about to them.

Hell, in 2.5E (The Black Books era) I played suboptimal characters all the time, so did my players. (They divided the stats into two sub-categories, probably the best fucking thing for AD&D they ever did) There were a lot of cool characters that came out of that.

Fucking 5E has rotted these faggot's remaining braincells.

was their actually a backlash that stupid wheelchair dungeon? I mean outside of saying it's cringe and not buying it, I didnt see much feedback which wasnt empty praise.
Personally I find the idea that you not only want to play with any irl conditions but want the limitations it brings ignored is depressing, in it's personal implications

“Sorry bitch you don't even get to walk in your fantasies, now get back in the fucking chair, we've built some shitty mechanics to pretend it isnt a limitation”
I just realized we might be in a scenario similar to Marvel Comics. Or approaching one.

Marvel Comics makes shit. Unreadable shit. "Wolverine having anal sex with Cyclops on the mutant neo-nazi ethnostate in the moon" shit, often just to piss off their readers because the diversity hires they are propping up for woke points fucking HATE comics and HATE comics readers.

But their readers aren't the ones buying their shit, comic stores are. So as long as comic stores are around and buying comics, who cares if they're actually bought by anyone on the other end. Yeah, there's market feedback, but there's a layer of abstraction -- and Marvel can, thanks to Diamond, just literally force stores to take wokeshit comics by including them for "free" in the deliveries. This works great until the comic stores die because they can't actually resell the product, but that's literally not Marvel's problem.

My FLGS was talking about getting into comics as well, because apparently his distributor for tabletop is owned by Diamond and he'd get a discount. And it just hit me. What if WoTC is doing the same thing? Who cares if the players don't buy Wheelchair Adventures 3: Revenge of the Enchanted Escalator of Doom? The comic store did, and thus WoTC got paid. Yeah, this harms the FLGS but who cares? The woke idiots at WoTC don't even believe in money, after all.

Holy shit that's Fredrik Andersson. That dude's art was a staple of my RPG shitposting back in the 00's. Where is that horny old bastard now?
Fredrik is over on deviantart nowadays. He bounced off Yahoo Groups for a while there, but ended up on DA after vanishing for a few years. He was doing a webcomic called Pawn, about a Lesbian Scholar who abused the fuck out of the rules of a dungeon to steal and enslave a Nudist Succubus Princess at the bottom of it (when in reality she was supposed to beat her up and loot the place. Various definitions of "treasure," technicalities involving virgins and kissing creating pacts with demons, etc.). He stopped updating that a long while ago, though. Another long running one he was doing was a Bard who kept accidentally seducing (and creating half-human kids with) various monster girls.

His latest update was last year:

Life Sign Update!
0 min read
Greetings! Realized I've been away for a long time. Time flies as does life, which has been busy, tragic and wonderful. It's like I've gotten a concentrated dose of an entire lifetime in just one year. I'm practically playing catch up, finding the love of my life, getting a higher education, losing a loved one. I'll leave it at that for now. Haven't had much time or energy to be creative on my own, hence the lack of new uploads. More frustrating than frightening. My muse is not amused, but big changes does that. Still finding my balance in my new life, I suppose. It takes time. But it will be a good and creative life, of that I am certain. And in 3D. ;) I'll try to start updating stuff again. Perhaps not as elaborate as before but random sketches or doodles at least. That's my current goal for now. Stay safe and creative! Cheers! /Fredrik

Sounds like he got married and decided to go to University, which is leaving no time for art.

Wait, they changed all that now? Understand, I have not played since Gary Gygax (rest in peace you weird genius) had his name on the books, but I didn't realize they'd changed all of it like that.

They never repeated the stuff in the Black Books, which is a shame, because splitting up the stats was REALLY cool and allowed for some really good customization.

But could you imagine 5E players having to deal with no level caps on spell damage? Save or Die spells with REALLY shitty saves. Poisons that were nasty as fuck and just killed you outright. Not being able to regain the levels that undead drained from you. Resurrection maybe not working and permanently draining your stats?

They'd fucking scream.

There's so much changed by 5E the game is literally unrecognizable except for the names of some things.

I introduced a 5E player to 2E recently and they've been enjoying the shit out of it. Of course, that was out of 5 people that tried to play and just couldn't handle the BAM! You're fucked! and the whole "well, you had 3 spells for the day and used them all on the first encounter, no, you don't get any more spells till you get time with your spellbook"

Yeah, since at least 3.5, probably 3. (never played 3 or earlier, unless you count OSR stuff based on BX/BEMCI)

In 3.5, humans got an extra feat and no multiclass penalty for the first class. No level caps or any of that jazz. Melee was still supposed to level faster than spell casters, but really in more of a sense Spell Casters were supposed to be losing XP to make magical items. There were still some racially forbidden classes but for the most part Elf is just a pointed eared human who doesn't need to sleep and is immune to charm.

In 4e, Humans get an extra At-Will power, an extra feet get to chose their stat bonus (which got less useful in Essentials, aka 4.15), and a human ability about saving throws.

In 5e, I think it was feat , choose your stat bonus and...I don't remember what else.

There's a YouTuber I've been watching for years that reviews horror modules, mainly Call of Cthulhu. He's one of the only YouTubers I know that can do in-character skit comedy in a review and have it not only work, but enhance the review itself. I remember when his channel was small, and now he's big as far as RPG channels go.

A while ago (I guess sometime before covid) I stopped watching his show. I don't know why, it just didn't click with me any more. I chalked this up to burn out.

A new video of his appeared in my subscription/recommended feed and I thought I'd give him a watch. He now reviews Powered by the Apocalypse modules.
Can you give me a link?

Can you give me a link?
It's Seth Skorkowsky.

His early work can be a bit rough around the edges, but is watchable. Then he had great stuff like the Scott Brown war story and various reviews. His recent stuff isn't horrible, just bland. Though it could be because I have no interest in PbtA, Traveller, or the Aliens RPG.

Where do you guys find your pdf since the trove went down?
Check /tg share thread for da annex pdf, then find the rebrand.ly link for the various pdfs for the month that will link you to various megas, rebrand, and volafiles. I rarely ever used the Trove as many files aren't up to date in terms of scans. I may have picked up something like 1500 files out of my 50-60k file list from the Trove. The rest I got from various other sites.

Everytime i go there the only file downloadable is a few pages with instructions on how to behave on the thread so where is da annex?

from there you'll have an up to date da archive and da annex.

I know this thread about leftist ruining the ttrpg community, but are some right wing tabletop games or at least games made by right-leaning creators?

Price of Freedom from Westend Games. Original and AD&D (Gygax supported and volunteered for Republicans), Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars, Star Trek, Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k,

Though by it's very nature, RPG's can be right or left leaning. It's up to the fluff of that particular setting. the GM has created. It's not hard to turn something like Ponyfinder into the most Far Right game ever with the right GM.

And hey!
This exists
