Hello, kiwis. I have decided to take a journey into the horrifyingly interesting mish-mash of LSD: Dream emulator, and SecondLife. Let's get to it.

DAY 1.

You spawn in a main hub area. A large octagonal room surrounded by a large open desert area. This is where you will find people if anyone is online. The conversations here, are... normal. Regulars here I've noticed include Doxfox, Caspian, 640x480, SirGemini, ThePurifier, and ObscurusDoom. Not to mention the rare Nexialist or Jimbly. People talk about their lives, and occasionally drop some info to curious explorers about Worlds's history and how it continues to exist. Nothing out of the ordinary. Stoners, and boomers seem to be the main group that still hang out here. They use it like a chat room, it seems.

The area around the main hub room. This "world" is called Home. There are multiple areas you can teleport to, and this is where everyone starts off when they create a character, or log in at any point. There is nothing out there, except some cacti, and a biplane with a large "WORLDS.com" sign flying around. As far as I've seen, there are no teleporters or doors in the desert, and it is very empty. Onto the next thing...

This is the list of places you can teleport to. They all have sub-areas that you can also choose to go to. I've noticed most of the default areas seem to have a lot of Hanson-based rooms where you can click on signs that take you to Hanson's website.

Here is the Auditorium, accessible from the large octagonal hub room. One thing you will learn about Worlds.com is that is very, very isolating, but yet very compelling. Every area felt almost dreamlike, with its low quality renders, pixels, and midi music. Most of the time there was no sound, except for doors opening and closing. These areas used to be full of Worlds.com members, but are now a digital snapshot of a different point in time.

This is just the first post. Should I continue?

The Nexpo video about this was super interesting, so I'd love for you to continue. Just the Nexialist and Jimbly worlds alone warrant a visit! Hopefully you'll find some other disturbing shit.

I did some exploring in that game a while back. The public areas are kinda neat and even have secrets, but I didn't see any really crazy shit until a helpful local came to guide me. Not sure how you're supposed to find most of it.

That's the point, the whole creepy cult spook atmosphere is just a bunch of people roleplaying, they've all made their rooms and their avatars up and just wait until a streamer is exploring, then organize through IRC to start fucking with said people. The base "game" minus the /x/ rejects is eerie on its own though. I will give the program that much, but is eerie in a "what once was" sort of way, like an abandoned shopping mall or school. Pair that with the old and dated graphics and you have the perfect playground to make up some ghost stories.

I remember there was a clubhouse that had a secret maze under it, and there were teleporters or something that would give you a glimpse of your character model from time to time in the corner of your vision, giving you a nice little spook if you weren't expecting it. Good stuff.

You piqued my interest with Bowie World so I had to see if there was anyone YouTube video of it. It's pretty much what I was expecting but still very weird and surreal nonetheless.

Please continue because these weird non games fascinate me, I still can't believe there's people fucking around in that piece of shit Second Life.
