This has (sort of) already happened. Mango Foalix, aka Joe Farris has shown up in many of the MLP video credit reels. Brony shitflinging doesn't tend to leave the prospering grounds or the megathread. He had a number of Flawless profile pictures and was/is an obvious superfan.

Lol. Don't give them any money, they'll just release it anyway and pocket $200. Have they actually sent any proof of having these DMs? Seems like it would be pretty easy to just name a bunch of folders after people they know you've spoken to before, unless they actually show pictures of the messages to prove they actually have them seems like an easy con.
