This is like watching your hometown and everybody in it get demolished and evicted then get absorbed into a huge city. If it were not for the Tamer's Archive, SU would be folklore at this point.

in some sense, it does make sense. if a casual lurker visits his channel and sees an old Sonic Underground banner, they will feel confused or outright baited since the actual content is only MLP and Dandy. the channel has not provided dedicated Sonic content in a long time. occasional crossovers do not justify keeping the old artwork. from a branding perspective, updating to a Dandy banner is the logical choice. however, this change comes at the cost of his own identity. previously, Tamers had a unique niche, driven by an altruistic and stubborn dedication to Sonic. his childhood comics proved his genuine passion. unfortunately, he has become just another clout chaser. in a few years, when Dandy loses relevance, he will likely latch onto the next popular show for views

at this point, keeping the Sonic pfp seems contradictory. ditching it for farting Rarity would fit better for his current channel transition. keeping the avatar suggests he is reluctant to let go of his past, possibly suffering from an identity crisis. he is torn between what he genuinely loves (Sonic), what brings him money (MLP,) and what brings him views (Dandy). he ultimately chose to put his personal passion aside to play it safe

he must feel frustrated when comparing his old Sonic videos, which struggled to hit 10000 views and 50 Patrons (or whatever I will not rewatch his 2021 Sonic to count how many patreons he had back then), - comparing it against the highly profitable MLP and hype-driven Dandy content. it likely puzzles him that his beloved art failed to bring fame, while his current fillers succeed so well. at this point, Sonic is a mere obligation to a small remnant of his old fanbase. it is not a crime to seek the attention, but decision to abandon his legacy for exposure makes him a sellout - and a huge bitch
 
I didn't think it was possible to be any more over but I was wrong...

I wish he would just come out and say he's done with Sonic Underground and he's moved on. Keeping that tiny spark of hope alive in us, however small it is, is just cruel and so much worse. I think with these recent developments though that the ember of hope inside of me has died out completely. It's been fun, Tamers. I wish I could just be happy that he found a new audience and can actually make money from his work now, but I can't help resenting him because of the way he ended it. There was a way to end SU gracefully and he picked the worst possible way to handle it.

If you know that there are two tamers, you will know that we don't like the other one, who seems to have killed or eaten Tamers and now wears his skin and has changed the wallpaper of his house.

hi! thanks, I know this story. I have been following Tamers since he started making MLP content. ponyfags quickly noticed something was off when he began making dedicated stallion episodes. characters from the mare and stallion episodes stayed in their respective canons and never interacted. this led fags to came up with "two timelines theory" around the release of his "Soarin and Braeburn" movie. the theory was fueled by subsequent episodes until it was proven canon during his silly slapstick with his partner

I refer them both as "Tamers" because I do not care whether it is a single person, two people, three, or maybe he is bipolar or schizophrenic. I dont buy this sentimental cope that a "bad Tamers" took over while the "good Tamers" was powerless to stop him. there is a creator, and there is a content. an what I see is a decision made by a creator to give his content a brand new page or new iteration which non-coincidentally means abandoning 10 years of his hard work. that's the only what matters

I discovered his work because folks were forcing his videos back than in /mlp/. than I checked out his SU and enjoyed it even more. sadly, that spark of dark comedy is gone, replaced by safe and plain content. I am surprised he still allows pedo jokes in the Dandy videos; I expect him to make them saccharine soon to avoid scrutiny and controversy - especially now given how active he is in Twitter and Discord. he has already censored his MLP video by replacing orphans with 40yo midgets. Tamers did not just abandon his legacy, but also his freewheeling humor, ridiculous characters, and carefree attitude. but that's not surprising: that always happens as soon as you hit big. self-censorship comes naturally in this case. bad publicity tanks the income. we see self-censorship it in the movies, books, comics, tv shows all over the globe. it is just so heartbreaking to finally see it in the work of creator you come to respect and enjoy. and all that for the views of 12-14yo in the FNAF-esque gamemode in the silly sandbox videogame

This is what pisses me off the most in all this. He always tells the MLP and DW audiences what his schedule is and even puts in DW characters that the kids request. He’s always opaque with us, dodging questions about SU whether it’s on Twitter or in the YouTube chats. I’d just like to hear, “SU is on hiatus” or “SU is cancelled, thank you for the support.” Then I’d be satisfied.

I didn't think I would ever directly compare Tamers to Indians ruining America but I guess we're here now.

I maybe did not mean powerless. I mean circumstances. I'm nosy and am remembering that Fujo Tamers mentioned that Tamers has financial trouble. SU is no where near as popular and as lucrative as MLP or Dandy, and Fujo Tamers is big and the head honcho of those things. I'm imagining that something is wrong with Tamers's health or motivation or living situation since last year, and maybe the extra money that MLP fans have brought to his Patreon has become very important for Tamer's sustenance. I think if Fujo Tamers in the partnership has been helping Tamers find a way in life, then I rescind what bad if any I had said about their character, although the art that we love is clearly not what they make. I think Tamers has taken a step away from making videos for reasons to be discussed. Fujo Tamers is in charge it seems. Even compared to the weeks since December Fujo Tamers has more reign of the Twitter and YouTube channel. But I don't think it was any hostile takeover.

The artist who made the series and YouTube channel we love lives, but I think he is subdued because of circumstances that we don't know about. I think Tamers can return to form, but I wonder how he will negotiate control over the identity that's less and less his own. I'll second a lot of this, though I think OG Tamers has a bit more on the channel than you imply. Episodes starring the mares tend to be close to every other episode, and those are clearly his for the most part. I think Fujo Tamers making stuff most of us here don't like and feels like a pretty complete break from SU (outside of some edgier moments) is well documented, but something I haven't seen brought up elsewhere is that I think OG Tamers, having hit his 30's, seems to be becoming more sentimental. Take Flawless, for example. He clearly wants to put her in school because he clearly likes that setting and the idea of an adult who's still dumb and socially maladjusted enough to be in elementary school is funny and feels pretty in line with things he liked in SU. However, he also seems to want to show Twilight and Trixie trying to navigate parenting her and generally trying to be decent parents to an unruly teenager, which he wouldn't do in the same situations with Aleena and especially Uncle Chuck, since he'd be more interested in making jokes. In hindsight the ending of the recent SU Christmas special with Bartleby, Sonic, and Manic inviting you into the limo with them kind of feels more sentimental than he used to get too.

Review of the most recent episode: Completely a mixed bag. Whenever you see a 40 minute Tamers episode, it's almost a guarantee the pacing won't be good. Some funny stuff, some boring stuff, never felt tempted to stop watching but also probably won't rewatch.
 
I was barely invested throughout the whole episode. Like the last one it felt like two or three stitched together but nowhere near as bad. Spike was the only part I really found funny.
