I like the brutal power of Lapsang Souchong, a Chinese black tea smoked over pine wood. Drinking it is like smoking.

Seconding lapsang souchong as a great tea, but it's very situational. You can't just drink liquid smoke every couple hours any day of the week. Gotta be in the mood for it.

I like a good Assam or Yunnan tea. Pu-Erh can be good too, but it's even more situational than lapsang.

Masala is one of my favorite tea-based drinks. A good masala chai is very satisfying.
 
Honestly, I just throw the tea leaves and Crud in a wire strainer, boil the water, and toss it all in a pot. Then enjoy! I do find that the bitterness increases the longer it steeps, so maybe try drinking it after about 1 min steeping, and go from there? It may be an acquired taste, but it is so good I love it! Also worth a try, Green Tea Ice Cream. awesomely tasty!

Matcha chocolate, matcha ice cream, matcha lollies... I'll knock down little old ladies in the street for these. Unfortunately- or fortunately, depending on your point of view- they're seasonal and I can't order them through mail because they invariably arrive melted, even in winter. There are a few different places in the city where I can buy off the shelf, but they're a ways away and not near anywhere else I need to get to, and when I do go there the prices are insane.

There are recipes for matcha lattes kicking around the net which I'd refused to make because matcha + milk + sugar, what the hell, this is high grade green tea! But I finally went "fuck it" and tried it. It's delicious. That said, I deviated from all of the recipes I found and really cut down on the sugar. I love sweet things, but two teaspoons of sugar in one cup is overkill. It's basically drinking sweet milk with a bit of a green tinge. When I went through a smoothie phase matcha was one of the ingredients of my standard breakfast smoothie. I'd thought that there wasn't much difference between the recipe with matcha and the one without, and since it was a green smoothie I'd thought that maybe it'd be cheaper just to skip the matcha entirely. Turns out no. Even with spinach and kale, you could still taste the difference with and without the matcha. A little of it goes a long, long way.
 
Luzianne tea with no sugar or lemon and lots of ice. Have about 19 glasses a day and 15 cherry coke zeros.
 
If you like Russian Caravan's smoky flavor and wish it were more so, just get lapsang souchong, the source of the smoky flavor. It's a strong black tea smoked over pine wood.
I'll need to give it a go, I even think I've got some knocking about somewhere and haven't got around to trying it!
 
I'm incredibly vanilla with my tastes in tea, but I drink an absurd amount.

When it comes to standard teas, Earl Grey is rather flowery but it's ok in the right situation.
 
I've fallen in love with Basilur's milk oolong lately. If any of you guys like silky, light oolong tea, it definitely is a must try for you.
I also love me some pu-er, but as it was mentioned earlier in the thread, I have to be in the mood for that. The tea I can drink basically any time of the day is bancha or barley tea, or even some nice aloe vera tea (I have one that's packed with cinnamon and ooooh boy, I love it) and other variations of herbal teas, especially in the winter. And don't even get me started about white tea...

Even though I don't like to put anything in my tea, in the summer I usually turn into a pussy and I prefer some sweet iced tea with simple syrup and a fuckload of fresh lemon in it, usually made from some cheap black tea (adding some fresh fruit to it doesn't make it worse either).
 
Smokey teas are superior to flowery- especially when honey is added. White honey really magnifies the smokiness of Russian Caravan tea. Speaking of Russian Caravan, that tea is the best variation I've had.

I don't really drink "flowery" teas either, at least not very often. Usually the only time that ends up in my cup is when I'm at the computer and ask girlfriend to make me a cup of tea and she makes me something or another I normally wouldn't drink.

I definitely prefer smokier or just plain black teas.

I'll have to try Lapsang with honey next time I have a chance.
 
This question is my jam. I actually work for a tea company and I drink gallons of the stuff on the daily.

Gotta have the loose stuff. No tea bags. That shit's dust compared to whole leaf loose tea. I'm a really big fan of pretty much all green teas. Love Genmaicha, Sencha, Gyokuro, pretty much any variation of matcha even if it's cheap. Hibiscus teas are beautiful and tangy and need nothing added to them unless you're crazy. Where I work has some great herbal blends, like the new one that's orange/cinnamon/almond/cocoa shells. Basically mulling spices. Other favorites are your basics -- Darjeeling, Oolong, Pai Mu Tan (white), Yerba Mate. When I'm at work I like getting iced white with mint tea mixed in, or a matcha shot made with mint leaves in the frothing process.

Admittedly I'm not a fan of rooibos/red teas. They taste like cough medicine to me.

I am curious about yellow tea, because we don't sell that one where I work but I know of it. If anyone can rec me something in that realm I would love it.
 
Sugar is for heathens. But depending on the honey, it can complement the tea. Then again, I reserve honey for very strong teas and try to use a honey with a lighter flavor, like white honey. Any honey too floral just ruins tea in general.
On a side note, ginger and turmeric tea is really good too. Nice and spicy.
 
I like builder's tea. Yorkshire tea, leave the bag to stew until the flavour is strong enough to kill a man. Add a splash of milk to take the edge off the bitterness.

For the really hardcore tea drinker, this might be your thing.
 
Started drinking my stash of Lapsang again because it's cold enough. I found brewing that shit according to the directions or tastes then adding a bit of vanilla and a pinch of allspice makes it particularly season-appropriate.

I like strong tea and leaving it to sit in a fridge for about a week depending on the tea, but that Chifir' would too hardcore for me.
 
Russian Caravan. It smells and tastes like a campfire in the best way. I love the way it changes flavor completely when you add sugar or milk to it.
