I just got some "diang hong ye sheng" wild red tea from Meng Hai in Yunnan and it tastes divine. One of the best teas I've had. If you see it, I definitely recommend getting some.

I consider sweet tea almost a different beverage. And yes, Luzianne is the best for that. I still usually brew the tea super strong, so that it would be almost too bitter to drink without massive amounts of sugar. I used to do that with Lyon's of Piccadilly too, brew it incredibly bitter then add enormous amounts of cream and sugar, even though I usually drink tea black.

But I drink sweet tea iced and "builder tea" as hot as possible.

Got myself a new loose leaf rose tea from Taylors of Harrogate; never tried this brand before, wish me luck.

Americans are fucken weird. I've read books where characters "drank out of jars", but I thought that it was an Americanisim for a type of water glass, not an actual jar.
You end up accumulating them from buying sauces or jams or whatever. It'd be a waste to throw perfectly functional glass out.
Funnily enough mason jars read as both very redneck (good ol' hillbillies drinking moonshine on the porch) and very bougie (instagramable, eco friendly, no microplastics)

Mason jar, yep. Commonality in the Southeastern United States.
I do that too. If it's to microwave something hot, I use a two cup PYREX measuring cup (the old kind with the big letters that is actually borosilicate instead of the shit they use now). I've used that cup practically every day for 25+ years.

Except for matcha or more ceremonial teas where I'll use something proper.

I do some sauce making and minor canning and the lids never seem reusable afterwards so I just have a jar. Might as well keep it.

I'm generally impressed with that brand, although I've only had their Earl Grey and Lapsang Souchong.

I do it. Partially because poorfagging a bit, partially because the jams and jellies my grandmother would get would be shipped in glass that works very well as drinkware.

Same dude.

See, these things are clearly meant to be used as glasses, and in my country we also have/had various spreads that come in containers meant to be used as a drinking vessel when their original purpose is done. But drinking out of jars that are clearly made to be jars only is just not done. Certainly it's extremely common to reuse the jars afterwards, but not to drink out of.

I love me a good earl grey, but lady grey is honestly the better tea if you can find it.
Also, you can get instant matcha late in powder form at chinese markets and it is just perfection. Great way to wake up on a wet and stormy morning.

I have a tea in my possession so foul it cannot be drank, however. It's a mix of green tea with roasted rice, a smokey black tea, and supposedly a tiny bit of caramel. Shit tastes like old leather and is so highly caffinated it turned my urine neon yellow for most of a day. I've been trying to make it tolerable but aside brewing it absurdly weak and adding a ton of sugar, there's no helping it.

Did you go to Yünnan or got it online? It is my dream to go there and explore the glorious mountains and plateaus but I am too poor and have a too shitskin of a passport.

This post inspired me to pick some up. I like it, but Earl Grey drinkers be aware - it's literally what's on the tin: the bergamot dominates the taste.
There are actually triple bergamot teas. I'll sometimes drink these, but even as a bergamot lover, double is usually enough for me. It's like the tea equivalent of a super-hoppy IPA or 100% cacao dark chocolate. These are all things I get a craving for sometimes but usually I don't want something that extreme.

I've been using some of my green tea stash to make iced tea. I put in some lemon myrtle, but I think I overdid it. I'll try again with a bit less. The current batch is drinkable, but could be better.

Any advice on making chai that tastes good? I'm currently trying half hot milk/half hot water, but the flavors aren't coming through.
