My country made weed legal forever ago, I'm finally buying some today. I'm getting 3 types of gummies (sativa, indica, and a hybrid) all around 10mg thc a pack. I have only smoked a hand full of times, last time being over 5 years ago. Is sativa that much different then indica? Like will it still make me sleepy, because most sites say it's good for creativity and daytime use. What about the hybrid? How much should I take? I feel like such an old person trying to be hip, please help.

Because you last smoked so long ago, you will get high no matter what*. My reccomendation would be to simply take one gummy, on an empty stomach, and enjoy it. As you continue to enjoy the gummies, I would advise a 2 week break between each one if you truly want your tolerance to full reset. If you take additional gummies sooner than 2 weeks, you will begin to build up a tolerance. Once you begin to build up a tolerance, you will need to worry about dosage, potency, strains, and the like. But because you are so fresh to it, I would strongly advise to just do the minimum possible, and enjoy the effects, and stick to 2 week windows so you do not build up a tolerance. It will probably take you ~90 minutes for it fully kick in. I would eat...
Some sativas do the job. If you want creativity, I personally like to smoke Tesla Towers, Amnesia and Wifi OG strains when I'm working. I alternate between the three so my brain doesn't get too used to any of them.

I do sometimes get tired and need an afternoon nap though if I wake and bake with sativa, so maybe wait past 12pm if you want to smoke early.

Indica's are good for a night time buzz, but remember sativa and indica reacts differently depending on the person.

Edilbles are sneaky because they take awhile to kick in. Took 16 THC capsules within a two hour concert not thinking too much about it and around 4AM my body was convulsing lollol.

Any suggestions for dosage?

I think it’s a good plan to get a mix of different kinds, which you are doing, and see what you like. Sativa and Indica each have their own positive qualities, but in my experience too much of either one can become negative. Sativa definitely gives you a more energetic/creative feeling, but it can also escalate quickly and make you super anxious. Indica is great for chilling out, but too much can make you feel like a zombie. Hybrids IMO are the best because they combine the best of both strains, in different levels depending on what you’re looking for. Go slow and experiment. Talk to the workers at your local shop, tell them exactly what you’re looking for and your experience level, and they can help make some recommendations. Good luck!
Edited to add: I would also be super cautious with edibles. I haven’t smoked weed or done edibles in a few years, but it’s a very different experience than smoking. Eat half of one and wait at least an hour before taking more. Edible highs last for fucking ever, and it’s really easy to go overboard. Just a helpful tip from someone who ate way too much of an edible once and had a horrible time :)

Any suggestions on what to do if that happens? Anyway to combat it?
My best advice is to tell yourself “this isn’t going to last forever, and I’m not dying” lol. Not everyone has horrible reactions to weed, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Just steer clear of the super insanely intense strains until you get more experienced and you’ll be fine. Play/cuddle with your pets if you have them, watch funny videos on YouTube, listen to music/lay outside in the sunshine.

Get a gram joint of Blue Dream and smoke it all in one sitting. Gotta show your friends you’re ready.

after about a half hour, put on a David Lynch movie (Inland Empire is my suggestion) and have fun

In regards to my personal preferences of Sativa vs. Indica, I do personally notice a difference between them. I strongly prefer Indica, as it does produce a "body high" (relaxed muscle tension, want to just sit and chill), and for me with many muscle injuries, is extremely pain reducing. My personal preference is that I never buy Hybrid. I always buy "pure" (although can be difficult to find today) Sativa, or "pure" Indica. I stay away from Sativa personally because it makes my mind race and affects my mood alot more. If I want "hybrid" I'll just mix it myself. In terms of potency, 10mg edibles typically denotes the newer, neutered version of edibles. Before I quit weed fully, which I did and now I don't use it ever, I could've eaten the entire bag to get a buzz off those. So that's why I'm trying to stress to you that your long term break has put you in a fantastic position and to not blow it.

*sometimes, on a person's very first time, they do not get high. However you said this is not your very first time, so I am assuming you will not have this phenomenon.

Stick with a half gram if first time. They make half gram prerolls which I think is good for n00bs wanting to dip their toes in.
I'm trying not to smoke because I used to be a smoker, and I'm a volunteer firefighter/wildfire fighter and rather not damage my lungs even more then they are.
