I really am wondering. Why isn't anyone suggesting boycotting valve? Just strip valve of their main income flow and just not buy anything from them. Imagine them losing 20% of their income because of this situation.

Valve still having an effective monopoly on games, probably means that people choosing not to play TF2 won't matter much in Valve's eyes, since DOTA 2, CS2, and Steam is still a thing. It's not like the Helldivers 2 or Hearthstone boycotts (the forced PSN requirement for HD2 on PC, and the Weekly Quest nerfs in HS) that actually made Sony and Blizzard take action to rectify their mistakes, respectively. (Sony dropped the PSN requirement for HD2, and Blizzard changed the Weekly Quests to make them less time-consuming)

If you mean boycotting the community market and mann co store, it's because people have sunk cost fallacy and they're too afraid to put their money where their mouth is. If you mean boycotting valve as a whole then it's a bit more difficult since people use steam beyond the scope of just tf2, counterstrike and dota. Asking people to forgo the library of games they've amassed over years and actually care about in the small chance of valve fixing a game that's over a decade old and probably haven't played in years is a pretty big ask for people whos interest in the game doesn't extend past video essays on the gas passer. That's not to say that boycotting valves in-game marketplaces doesn't have a chance, but it'll never happen because the people who have enough of a voice to organize any form of boycott have no interest in pushing their cause beyond pouting on xitter. It's easier to be a slacktivist and give yourself asspats when your bitching and moaning fails than to commit to and make sacrifices for the things you love and want to get better.

I'm surprised more of these people don't move to community servers. There's a lot of shitty ones but if you look around you'll find plenty of good ones you can add to your favorites.
It takes less time to queue and requeue for a casual game than it does to sit, waiting for a slot to open up on one of the 20 functional and tolerable servers running right now. I fucking despise Valve for killing matchmaking with MYM.

lol

Because the majority of PC gamers won't buy anything if it isn't on Steam? You think they're going to boycott the entirety of PC gaming because some sweaty nerds are upset about a 20 year old F2P game? The majority of which ONLY have said 20 year old F2P and don't actually make them anything?

As much as I like TF2, you're 100% right. There isn't going to be a boycott of that magnitude, and certainly not for TF2 anytime soon. The best that people could do is doing... whatever this shit is and doing hashtags until Valve decides to respond to the issue or not.

It's also hilarious cause I don't see Valve fixing TF2 anytime soon, when they will be releasing their new hero team shooter in the future. be a waste of money and time when it can be best spent on their newer product. TF2 was a fun game, but I don't think it can get its glory it once had anymore and time to move on.
Worst part is that their hero shooter will 100% end up like artifact. Nobody asked for it and nobody will play it. Considering how TF2 unironically is a pretty solid source of income for valve, it's kinda baffling that they would rather start from scratch than just keep building onto TF2 and add more monetization methods. Games like OSRS are doing better than ever by just nurturing their existing community, consistently releasing new content, and working with content creators. It's every company's wet dream to have a community that is so persistent and stubborn that they would rather continue playing a 17-year old game (which is more of a lootbox simulator at this point) than move on to any of the thousands of games that are consistently updated by billion-dollar companies. But I guess Valve still figured that it was somehow smarter to copy overwatch, a game that has literally gone through an entire rise and fall, than enjoying their existing rabid fanbase.
As much as i love GabeN for pushing innovation and pioneering many of the industry firsts, he is clearly not a man who knows how to run a company. Most companies with valuation of Valve has apx. ~10.000 employees, whereas valve has less than 400. So while they focus on innovative new products (with a very generous timeline, by the way), they leave all their old products to rust. While it makes sense to not spend too much time on the products that fail, like the steam controller, steam console, steam link, Artifact, or any of their other hundreds of failed ventures, they somehow also just leave all their successful ventures to collect dust (Half Life, TF2, CS2, VR).
I'm sure that GabeN is enjoying his billions on a yacht somewhere in the carribean (or his submarine), but he could genuinely have had a gaming dynasty the size of EA, Ubisoft, or Blizzard if he actually just put some more money into the company.

He's going to save TF2.

Perhaps I've gotten my history mixed up, but wasn't it established "OMEGATRONIC" was just a username belonging to somebody else who the bot hoster is pretending to be, with said owner of the username being no older than around the age of a teenager?

I remember when the TF2 community made stuff like Pootis, NOPE, Gentlemen, etc.

What the absolute fuck happened?

The older players probably left the game behind in search of something different. The new "community," if you can even call it one, is simply dickless lobotomites from Reddit and Twitter who think they'll save their zombified gacha game.
