Its amazing how much more funny Little Kuriboh's Yugioh GX watch is compared to his recent abridged episodes. Especially the one about the Amazon duel with Tanya. Compare that to the recent YGOTAS special and it felt like they were made by two different people, and one of them seemed happy to actually make their video.

It's 5 days old and it's already up to 1.7 million hits. I watched it once and hated myself for finishing it. And if you look at the shorts were they just uploaded individual clips, they range from half a mil to two million. People really want them to do the Buu saga at long last.

But they probably won't.

Speaking of, I was reading some of the newer Super chapters and I forgot just how shit Toyotaro is at paneling. His fucking scenes are just a series of still images with poorly thought out action lines that make it hard to follow what's really going on. Toriyama was godlike in his ability to convey action in such small frames with very little effort. You can easily follow what he was trying to show no matter where you look on the page. How this little faggot manages to fuck up so consistently despite having over a decade of source material to copy is truly impressive. Guess that's because he was a fan mangaka before getting scooped up, and Dragonball AF is so shit it somehow makes DragonBall Multiverse look high quality.

It ruined even a good chunk of old heads too, based on the crap you see across various corners of the net related to DragonBall. Again, I've seen OG fans claiming TFS is better than the real deal or that it's a better way to introduce people to the series. And I think that's mostly down to these supposed OGs not having read or watched the series since they were 10 and have just been consooming DragonBall memes and playing the fast tracked versions of the stories in the video games since then. Or they're just massively retarded, which is just as likely.

Also what's with TFS, mainly Kaiser of course, being such massive "trues" and sperging about dub/English changes yet doing their level best to copy the English cast? Kaiser does a damn near 1:1 of Eric Vales Trunks and Lani might as well be Sabats voice double for Geets and Piccolo. As much as I hate MasakoX, especially his nuclear level cringe What-If shit, he at least tried to do a blend of Ocean Goku and Nozowa even if it ended up just being his own lispy faggot voice pitched up slightly and wasn't just outright imitating better voice actors.

I’m guessing here, but probably the fact that their main audience probably grew up on the dub - much as that probably pains Kaieser, but fuck Kaiser.

Lani and Taka don’t seem to care, if not actively make some digs at Kaiser’s weeb pronunciations if I remember some DBCembers properly (I vaguely remember Lani seeming exasperated at Kaiser referring to world tournament arcs by the Japanese Name and directly translating the name to English in one of them), but because High Chief Faggot is the editor, they probably figured it wasn’t worth fighting him on it

I swear to God if they ever had a backbone regarding Kaiser and told him to fuck off/hire a fucking editor with the Patreon money even once, Buu probably would’ve been done years ago.

Kaiser would shutter the company before ever letting that happen, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's got enough of a hold over the whole operation to be able to put the kibosh on the rest of the crew doing anything Abridged related without him.

True, Lani and Taka seem to not give a fuck, generally speaking, about the Jap terms. Lani does use the Japanese "Kienzan", but I guess he does take the piss out of the Japanese name for the Special Beam Canon at the same time. So probably a Kaiser thing, again.
Taka doesn't seem to care about anything other than having the most meme tier characters, which is irritating in its own right. Particularly Nappa and Guru, and his Cell was basically just Alucard with less bloodlust, but the same amount of sex pest-ery.

Hmm. Come to think of it, a not insignificant chunk of the characters are some brand of pervert despite not having a single shred of it in their actual depictions. It's just shoe horned in because "haha sex". As if there isn't enough of that with Roshi.

At this point, imo, the best they did with any characters were the Ginyu force, Freeza, and the Androids(16-18 and 19 & 20). Maybe Vegeta too, since very little was actually changed with any of them. But that's not too surprising since they all seem to simp HARD for those arcs.

SAO really pushed the "change everything about the original material for jokes" that ended up being the worst being about TFS. It works somewhat well when it fits the plotline, but once it starts railroading itself to the plot and characters are just woke tropes, it becomes a huge pile of shit.
 
Whatever happened to hbi2k? He did his own abridged series himself (Beserk, Ganz) before being taken on as a writer/voice actor (He voiced Nail and King Cold). Then he either was fired or voluntarily quit either during or after the Cell Saga. I always liked him the best because he always came across as the most down-to-earth out of all of the original cast members and didn't act like he was doing anything more special than just making a light-hearted parody of an old anime. I never got a feel for his politics but he always struck me as a guy who wouldn't tolerate extremism on either side.

Edit: He was last seen on his own YouTube channel three years ago.

Yeah it works for SAO abridged since SAO really was not a good show and never really understood how video games work since the author never even played an MMO in his life. The Abridged kinda works for that even if it changes the material.

DBZ and Hellsing Abridged change material that was already pretty solid and worked well to just tell a "better" story that is just cringe.

Judging from the DND sessions, he did rape/racism jokes long after them being seen as problematic and was probably booted for it. Hopefully he cut ties with the internet and does real things irl.
 
After watching Buu's bits I can say I'm glad they never continued it, not because it's bad it was just just bland for the most part. There were the occasional moments that made me chuckle but not many. Pretty much just Goten and the Goku/Vegeta interactions. The rest was just forgettable.

The only part that really stood out was Lani's haircut, cause who the fuck told him that looks good?

And apparently, Something Witty ran out of material that could be described as “legendary trainwreck” levels of bad. After building pretty much all the comedy on that. And then SAOA gets called a 5/10.

At some point, someone really thought they were onto bigger and better things. That’s the only explanation I can come up with.
 
I'll add to the number of people who got nothing out of their Buu content. The iron is glacial at this point and half-hearted content isn't going to warm it up again, especially when they're clearly afraid to dabble in near the knuckle humour like they used to. It results in bland content that only the most diehard of fans will clap for.

Honestly since Super references the Popo eye stare, it’s likely that the people working their were ok with the parody. Just not with it making money, in any which. Which if I’m remembering right when they started to make money was when they started to have way more issues than just YT’s copyright bot hitting them.

You’d think they would have taken the hint.

When they reference "Popo's eye stare", Toei is referencing themselves. You do know TFS didn't animate DBZ, correct? They didn't invent that shot, they just pointed it out as a joke.
