Naw, you know what worked better than therapy'ing all of the souls? Alucard having to regain a sense of self amidst a sea of millions, and having to personally kill every single one again, reinforcing that he's not a hero, but a fucking monster and the Major was probably right about wanting to kill him. But what the fuck do I know?
Let's not forget that whole re-write of how Alucard made a deal with Satan so no other monster like him can ever emerge. When in reality, he became immortal because he was a coward and later started craving death when he realized how pitiful he was...but nah..God's a dick, Satan is good and Alucard is this tortured good guy. Oh! An can I just add how Walter turning badguy because he was secretly gay for Alucard is kinda offensive..since it gives the implication of he didn't have "ze gayness" then he WOULDN'T turn towards the Nazis, but apparently, this is better than his original motivation somehow.

Kinda explains how these chaps don't really get the idea behind character development, especially if they see it as couch-level 'shrink" shit.

Huh, I could have sworn it was Tahata. Also, what were you trying to do is be funny and entertaining, you brainless twat.
It sucks that they did that, but tbf considering the time when that joke was written in the early 2013, before mass wokism had affected the vast margins of content creators and making fun of tumblr was a new and encouraged thing. I can kind of understand how years later as TFS gained more and more popularity why they had to eventually cater to the woke left in order to gain clout. It's an inevitable fate so many youtubers or e-celebs have to do so I can't blame them for not being kiwi farms based.

Oh joy, they're trying to make this into a 'deep' show instead of just having the villains fuck around hell.

This feels like a chapter of a bigger story, and the problem with these shorts is that their releases are so spaced out it's easy to forget what happened in the last one. I'd completely forgotten why the Ginyus and Cell hated each other in episode six when that came out until they started ranting at each other.

It's like those webcomics that are written to be read as complete graphic novels but only put a page out every two or three weeks.

The thing is that these can work as jokes, but they're played completely seriously within the abridged series.

They really want to make this serious, do they really need to add melodrama to everything

The HFIL shit has well overstayed its welcome at this point and the fact that it's going to take them YEARS at this pace to get anywhere doesn't help anything. I think we're finally at the point where we can say they've lost every bit of touch and charm that made them big in the first place.

Well ye, if these were jokes I'd be fine. But they play this shit with such melodrama, that it isn't earned at all.

Oh geez was this made in source film maker??
Nah, I think by point Artemis is all out fucks to give when it comes workin' for these guys.

Out of morbid curiosity I clicked on it and I have no fucking idea how it took five months to make. There was no animation I clicked on that looked good and wasn't primitive as shit, using 3d models also means that there shouldn't be any problem with different angles. Also the colouring, lighting, fidelity and textures are awful. You could render this on a potato.

Actually I take it back after having a strange thought - "what about the lip syncing". HOLY SHIT, the lip syncing is way better than the animation itself. What's up with those faggots who think that people actually care about lip flaps more than the animation and virtually everything else? It's outright insane and it was also present in DBZA where in the making of videos when it's clear 99% of the time went to it, while their "extra scenes" look like they were made by a 12 year old and coloured by a random Chinese guy.

Yeah and it comes across as whiny too. Especially when Alucard talks to God.

They tend to just not really write drama or sad moments well since I rewatched the finale to DBZ abridged and they pretty much had a sad send off for Goku but the way its written was Goku acting as a mouthpiece for why Gohan should've been the MC of Dragon Ball after him. To be fair that is a valid complaint and a nice change for adaptation, but TFS is incapable of subtlety or any natural dramatic dialogue

What's really wild to me about HFIL?

Devilartemis, the animator, puts out as much content in a given week as Team Four Star manages for months, and usually he's funny as hell too. Reminds me of Team Four Star's prime, when they were closer to being cheeky internet shitposters.

Kind of a reminder of what TFS could have been if they could pull the sticks from thier asses.

And NONE of that shows in HFIL. It's a snoozer.

The hell happened to this bunch?

Simple answer: Kaiser wants to prove they aren't just about jokes and shit posting, that they can deliver "deep and serious" material.

To me, their abridged series and channel as a whole didn't age well. I mean, they made Goku into a sociopath who doesn't have a grasp of human norms (to be fair, that's what he turned into in Super), and while that's funny when it's fresh, their brand of comedy has an underlying sense of spite beneath it all that isn't as resilient. Yeah, Toriyama's writing is dog tier power fantasy bullshit, but there's a reason that the series proper has held up and is considered a beloved classic next to Sailor Moon and Ranma all these decades.

Wasn’t Goku in man DB canon just a simple country bumpkin/redneck who only cares for fighting, eating, and spending time with his family, and not really going into formal education because he didn’t have much of a need for it in his mind?

If memory serves, I think there was some filler where he went to driving school, and more filler where they showed him having his day job be working as a farmer on his property. The only thing I think TFS did was play up the fighter aspect, while putting the spending time with his family slider to 0.

The early episodes especially derived their humor from jokes and discussion fans of dbz would have. Before tfs was ever a thing everyone memed Gokus naivety and wanting to let bad guys power up as him being literally retarded. Same with joking that Piccolo is a nanny for Gokus kids.

That flanderized version of them worked for an abridged series, but I still can’t bring myself to watch Super. Roshi literally had basic education as part of his training, so Super acting as if Goku can’t read or do basic math is ridiculous.

How many times has that scene and Goku's explanation of "I want him at his best, otherwise what's the point of fighting?" played out in canon? Is that Goku, or did Vegata (the other pure blooded Saiyan) also display this view?

Yeah them turning that into a therapy scene really was a disappointing end to the whole saga, in negates all of the character development and sinister implications that Alucard while not pure evil, really was a sinister figure to be messed with, it did lead to some funny lines though in the therapy scenes I’ll admit. I particularly like ‘nobody isn’t kind of an asshole in their early 20s, and if they weren’t, they were probably psychopaths’ alarmingly true even if it’s played for laughs.

I remember both of them having that, Goku's stemmed from both his naive nature and the thrill of the fighting someone stronger for him to overcome whereas Vegata's came from his arrogance thinking that he's stronger so he'll wait then beat you

Just from memory I know he let Frieza power up and gave Cell a senzu bean. I don’t remember the fever dream that is the Buu arc well, but I feel like there was probably a similar moment in there.

Vegeta allowed Cell to become Perfect specifically for that reason.
