Because people would've complained if he didn't. I always tell people "Hey, the animation gets REALLY BAD in this arc just letting you know now" which sucks because it's Joey's final duel in the series AND has one of Kaiba's coolest Duels when he completely mogs Zigfried and sends him packing back to Germany.
