But when Toei learned of this, they immediately shut it down and said if Funimation did anything with TFS, even if it wasn't for one of their projects, they would revoke all of their licenses and cancel any future projects.

Somewhere in there is the truth. I do believe Sabat really did cheerlead for TFS because he isn't an idiot and knew a good opportunity when he saw one. I do believe it COULD BE because Toei threw the hammer down. Remember though, we know Sabat is a lying snake in the grass. You can just look at the guy, if you've ever seen him, and tell he's a slimy mother fucker.

Want to know what I think actually happened between the abridging and VA Community? Someone either at Toei or Funimation asked the obvious fucking question:

Why do we need Funimation?

I really mean it. Put TFS in a studio, give them the licensing and give them the equipment. They already have a built in audience of millions who would probably love for them to have both Abridged and the legitimate roles and it would go viral. They do just as good of a job, and they're currently already doing the VA work FOR FREE. You could pay them anything you want. They have a larger built in audience as minor celebrity.

You could make an argument for Schemmel being the better Goku over Masako, fine. However, Monica Rial? Gone. Nadolny? Gone. None of these lesser VAs are needed. You know who else wouldn't be needed if TFS took over the roles? SABAT. Lani is just as strong of a VA as Sabat and has just as many roles in DBZA as Chris does in DBZ. There's zero reason to keep Chris Sabat in a world where Lanipator exists. People to this day still want Lani to take over when Sabat retires. So what do I think actually happened? I honestly believe Chris Sabat and Funimation are the ones that blacklisted them and just lied to them to save their own skins. Not Toei. Which is understandable, I don't blame him, but this is something Sabat probably WOULD do, given what we knew about him.

I think Sabat genuinely had good intentions when trying to bring in the TFS crowd. It's just that when a choice came to Sabat and co. and TFS, Chris is always going to choose himself and nobody really can blame him for that. If I remember correctly, TFS constantly would get asked about this during their gaming streams. Questions like "what happened with Sabat and Funimation?". Lani never lets anyone talk about these things but from the little he does mention about it, I think they largely suspect something like what I said above ultimately happened. I

Bottom line is, I really do suspect TFS and LK are truly blacklisted from VA work with Toei and Funimation. After all, why bother with Diddler Daman Mills who right out the gate gets accused of grooming minors the moment he gets spotlight when you could hire Martin to be Frieza, which is the only role he naturally was good at.

I know this is all fantasy and whatnot, but if I had Elon levels of money, I seriously would throw 2 billion down on the table in front of Sony to buy Crunchyroll specifically so I could fire almost every single voice actor that works for them and hire non-woke or just apolitical ones that can replicate the voices and translate subs properly.
We're almost back in the late 90's in terms of issues with subs being mistranslated and dubs having inaccurate translations and stupid crap inserted into them. At least in the old days it was done because they didn't want kids to swear or whatever...For the past decade~, they've been slipping their leftoid agenda into the dubs of anime plus adding stupid Zoomer/Alpha humor like 'No Cap' and whatnot.


I don't wanna watch fansubs because I actually like watching dubbed anime but I'll never support the official releases. Any physical product I buy is on the secondary market or I go out on my boat to watch things. I knew Schemmel and Sabat were lefty douchebags far before their public execution of Vic Mignogna's reputation and character but I actually can separate the art from the artist when it comes to anime and cartoons because at least I don't have to look at your ugly face when I watch it.


I'll also give Schemmel this much, that line delivery when Goku freaks out on Zamazsu and Goku Black was genuinely good.
