TFS are doing a 24 hour stream of all of FF7MA, and I don't know why. Nobody is doing a commentary over it, it's just every episode back to back for 24 hours.

As of when I post this, 1k people are watching and the chat is just repeating the jokes currently being told.
Quick check-in, viewer count is now floating at 1.1k, but chat is still just repeating jokes.

I wonder what's the moment the show jumped the shark. It's definitely post Frieza. My guess would be either the Broly film (with the wedding subplot) or the creepy gay shit with dende.
It was probably right when the Cell arc started, although I don't remember much of their take on the Android saga outside of Bulma hitting on Future Trunks.

When it started taking them years to release a new episode, so around the time Cell showed up and the show started taking itself too seriously.
Was one of the reasons they began being more "serious" with Cell was because they didn't know how to make jokes about him while maintaining his creepy status?

'Cause they pulled it off just fine with Frieza. Unless LittleKuriboh had more of a hand in Frieza's character and Takahata101 just didn't have to talent to do the same with Cell?

Pretty much. They think Cell as a villain isn't really something you can make funny. Or something like that. Meanwhile Hbi2k was able to make an abridged series out of Berserk 1997.

Pre-games Cell was funny as hell. I don't know what are they talking about considering Freeza in-universe was a much worse person than Cell and they made him funny somehow.

I think the show jumped the shark post Ginyu Squad, I honestly don't remember anything after that and have watched beyond that several times.

Personally I didn't even know they did stuff other than DBZA and HUA, figured they just cash cow merch sales. Which is fair, applying your winning formula to another thing, in a slightly up aged way, while it's actively failing on the first thing, is impressive.

Almost all the stuff on their store is DBZA anyway, honestly I was shocked at only three Helsing Ultimate Abridged merch items, but then again, maybe the IP owner are more litigious than Toei.

Nah, I think after the bitch slap they got from Toei they didn't wanna take too many risks with HUA and thus stuck to only 3 items.

I think around the time they put Dr. Gero's son into the mix. I feel bad for not liking it because, according to one of the streams they did afterwards, they all put a lot of thought and work into it. Having said that, it always seemed awfully fanfiction-y to me. I think around this time they did one of the movies and it had a bunch of original animation that looked really out of place.

No, Taka is the funniest VA they have and Cell himself was never really the issue. Part of the problem was that they all liked the Cell Arc too much to really dig into it, and the other part was that alot of the humor in the previous arcs came from the villains bouncing off of Goku and getting frustrated with how stupid he is, but Goku was sidelined most of the arc and Gohan was played too straight to have any good interplay with anyone.

Like the saga too much, huh? In comparison, here’s how Berserk Abridged handled The Eclipse:

I wonder if someone actually took up the challenge. Because I'm not sure how you can take a brutal murder/rape scene and make it funny yet tasteful while keeping in the same context. Also I miss hibi2k, he was like the chill uncle of the group.

I don't see Kiaser, and by extension Team Four Star getting back into Abridging. If anything, I could see Taka running his own side project, with Lani contributing. He's still working with Something Witty Entertainment, and though I think Sword Art Online Abridged took a dive with season 2, they just came out with the second episode(two years after the first, so it's almost as if Kiaser was involved) of My Hero Academia Abridged, with Taka as the voice of All Might
