What are your thoughts on the band of Tears for Fears and their messages behind the songs as well as the discussion of spirituality that they often times bring up in the songs.

Also what are your favorite songs and whys that?

I'll start off with my favorite song:

I don't know too much about the band, but I really like these songs
My favorite song by them. Who knew that a song about corruption bringing in the end of the world could be so singable?
I always remembered hearing this song on the radio when I was younger.
Everyone seems to be more familiar with the Gary Jules version, but I personally like this version better.

They have such a great discography, but either "Mothers Talk" or "Head Over Heels" is my favorite song of theirs.

Eh, I think the cover was able to add its own style to it (like covers should), so I don't have qualms with either.

"Shout" holds some sentimental value for me since it brings back memories of one of my little brothers making that attempt to sing along to it back when he watched the music video a lot (Dad's got a couple DVDs of music videos). It only lasted for like a year or two, but he still perks up when the opening notes play and he's in the car.

They were overrated and underrated at the same time. In the 80s you heard them everywhere. I heard them as a kid quite often.

Now, they're musically sound and very technical in their craft. And they're still going today.

And I do have their big album in my collection.

That's the best way to describe TFF. The singles off "Songs From The Big Chair" were overexposed by 1987, and radio hasn't let up ever since. But if you can ignore that, they've made some brilliant music over the years that's aged like fine wine.

I don't know much about them, but I grabbed Songs from the Big Chair on vinyl a couple of months ago and find it to be one of my favorite albums now. I'm sure that's not a hot take by any means. What's funny is Working Hour is so familiar to me, though I swear I've never heard it before. If I believed in past lives I would wonder if I was some Patrick Bateman style Wall St broker who did some blow to this song once upon a time.

Still a great song.

They have some good songs but they are probably the worst band I've seen for putting masonic references in their shit so that always turned me off from them.

I think it's also evident in the lyrical meaning of "Everybody Rules the World." But ignoring the context, the music is still very catchy.

I think they were great songwriters. I remember gene ween saying they were one of his favorite acts back in the day.

Shout and Everybody Wants To Rule The World are two of my favorite songs, always a joy when I'm on the road and either one starts playing on the radio.

Also like Johnny Panic And The Bible of Dreams, a song that isn't brought up too much.

On the subject of covers, this one of Shout by On Being Human is incredible, almost eclipses the original:

I really like their first two albums and Tears Roll Down but I haven't listened to anything else. I probably should because I really like everything I've heard. I used to not like Everybody Wants To Rule The World at all but it's grown on me over time.
A must-watch:

My favorites are probably Broken-Head Over Heels/Broken, Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down), and the entirety of The Hurting.
