I'm going to rant about a few things that drive me up the fucking wall, that I'm sure have been mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but I don't care. Modern tech has turned me into a seething creature of sperg rage, hate and loathing over minor bullshit nobody cares about.
How come every supposedly modern Microsoft software runs like dogshit? They're all slow, clunky, take ages to load, break often and have little eccentricities that drive me fucking insane. Why are these things so tremendously bloated???
I work in an environment with Windows 7, 10 and 11 computers. The Windows 7 computers are very fast and lightweight, have no weird hangups and generally only have issues when they're interacting with something more modern, or when the capabilities of their old hardware are exceeded. Same with Office 2007 and 2010, both of which are present on these computers. They take seconds to load files and once you're in they're never going to freeze or crash. I've been using Office 2007 on my modern PC daily and it's literally never had a single error or crash the entire time I've had it installed.
The Windows 10 and 11 computers, on the other hand, throw hissy fits at the lightest touch, run like shit after a year or two of usage, will often develop horrendously slow startup, login and load times, and these problems are compounded by modern "apps" like Teams being such abysmally gluttonous beasts that hog up resources for no apparent reason and can barely keep themselves together without crashing. That's not to mention all the weird errors they'll often have, and the solutions in the official forums are buried by mountains of retards posting unhelpful obvious bullshit answers and inconclusive dead threads.
Not to mention, their UI/UX is atrocious, it truly feels like I'm losing bits of my soul when I interact with those plain gray squares Windows 10 calls a visual style and the horrendous mismatch of colourful bouncy icons and the software equivalent of commie blocks for a background of Windows 11. I cannot fathom how with these supposedly "clean" and "sleek" and "efficient" UIs it runs worse than Windows XP which was the epitome of garish and extra, than Vista which gave debilitating AIDS to any computer that couldn't handle its power, than 7 which was practically 100% Aero everywhere all the time...
And, of course, because the Windows style always sets the trend for UI/UX design in the following years, everyone's adopted the same practices as Microsoft: bloated, slow, ugly. Every modern social media site feels and looks almost the exact same, with the only thing changing being the accent colour; the mobile-first, web-afterthought design doesn't help much either. This nefarious virus has spread to every single website, every news site, every company page, even fucking Wikipedia is like this now. I truly don't get it. It's like a graphic designer Redditor took control of every tech company and decided to overhaul everything with his autistic obsession for dead whitespace, center-alignment, plain icons and text, and "cleanness" above all functionality and common sense. And then he recruited a horde of programmers and web designers to pump the damn things full of needless crap to make the experience as miserable and soul-sucking as possible.
