I hate it from the other way, idiots thinking they are smart are making tech to dupe retards and have them open their wallet. A lot of IoT and things like Juicero comes to mind.

yeah that trend from the other end is dreadful to. They make garbage but they can slap "CLOUD COMPATIBLE" on it and people just eat it up.

Additionally I hate how much stuff is being put on the cloud just because it can. Nothing can be its own device now, and it scares me somewhat when this bleeds into networking as I've seen some instances where all you've done is just create a single point of failure with a GUI.

I have a custom made voltmeter gauge in my car for real time alternator monitoring and that LED is blue. I'm planning to swap it out with a red one since the blue is actually harder to read in both natural light conditions and at night. The red at night is a lot more comforting and easier on the eyes too.

The pedal maps don't matter that much as anything sporty puts most of their power in the first 30% of pedal travel so it feels punchier and the retards at consumer reports eat it up (it basically cheats their scoring criteria while making parking lot driving more annoying). Shift point changes matter, but you'll get overridden to the aggressive maps at high pedal input anyway, so if you want to feel like you're driving fast without going faster or using all of your power, the sport mode will do it.

Rotary gearshifts clear up space in trucks which is nice and you get anti-retard measures from them (Key off in drive and it'll park you). Pushbutton handbrakes have never done anything good for anyone and need to die. My hill hold would throw on the handbrake at stoplights and how can I trust that thing to hold when it requires a charge to work?

Sport mode = normal
Anything else = excessively short-shifting (or in a CVT slushbox running up through the ratios as fast as possible) gimp mode for "fuel efficiency"

It's a system designed by a Retard for Retards, nearly all modern tech is like that give me a good positive action switch or button any day - I hate this over use of touch controls in every facet of life, I've seen one on a fucking MIG welder recently all the controls apart from On and Off where controlled by this screen my first thought was - That's going to last 5 minutes.

I wanted to learn stick, but my mother refused to teach me and my dad died before he could. It's hard to find a way to do it without knowing anyone.

In the UK manual is the default, you have to go out of your way and pay more to learn Automatic only and the test spaces are limited even under normal circumstances, You could call around driving instructors seeing if they offer manual lessons for people who can already drive automatics, and I am sorry about your dad by the way losing someone is hard.

And yea I miss dedicated devices, I know it was more items to keep track of but apart from audio playback the phone does what I want it to worse than the dedicated device it's supposed to have replaced, I still carry a DSLR in my bag, I still carry a notebook and pens, paperback book, etc the only thing I really like is having my audiobooks in one place on my phone rather than having to carry tapes or CD's like I used to pre smart phone.

One thing I can't get on with is e-readers, I've tried them and I just don't like how they feel when I read a book there is something I can't quite quantify that's missing from the experience, same with reading books on a ipad - I love the idea of ebooks and I've got a massive collection because I couldn't find some of these books otherwise and I will sit and read them on my laptop over a e-reader or tablet.

I can't imagine reading on a laptop over an ereader. The screen is so much better.

Clunk, Click, Tick I miss that when interacting with modern tech, I want tactile feedback that isnt just a tiny little vibration I want positive conformation in my ears and by touch that I have done something, I think that's why I use so much old tech out of choice in my professional life, planes you set with a hammer rather than a adjuster, Hand Saw and Axe rather than a circular saw, hand forging metal than using a power hammer or press etc.

I just don't get that feedback from modern tools that I value from older styles, and it's the same with things like TV's, Phones, Computers etc I miss tactile feedback.

Probably nearly impossible in the States. There aren’t that many driving schools to begin with, because the exams are comparably easy, and it’s incredibly difficult to find a car with manual transmission these days. In fact there are only about 40 models that come with manual, if that.
