Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

Fuck glass pc cases, it's a faggot design and whoever invented the concept in the first place is a faggot that likely enjoys 24/7 dicking. Most of the designs too suck and make it complicated to install a second hard drive. And who the hell cares about obnoxious rgb lights which are the pinnacle of attention deficit tards?
Glass PC cases are kewl cause I can see inside the computer and it makes it easier to trouble shoot since you don't have to open the case to see if anything's wrong.

Apparently you can block it through the group policy if you have windows pro, but you don't have access to that on Windows home. I need to do some more digging on how to fix this issue (if its even possible).
Windows 10? Set your network interface to metered. You'll have to modify a registry entry if its an ethernet device.

I just got a used PC that still ran Windows 7 for its OS and HO-LYYY shit, did I get excited when I saw the startup screen; forgot how much I missed the old UI. Personally, I would love to keep it, but I have to look over what Steam games I have and see if I even can without losing the ability to play. Worst case, I may cave and install 10 on a partition, if I even can.

It also came with a disc drive; if  that somehow still works, I will lose my shit. Physical media is something I will always stan for whenever possible; I just like having a hard copy of my stuff whenever possible, plus old video games with the boxes and instruction manuals were a trend I miss to this day.

I like VHS tapes. I don't even know why, their picture quality has long been outclassed by better formats and they seem easier to degrade than DVDs. I just find something nostalgic about popping in some mid 90s movie and sitting back and enjoying the fuzzy picture quality. I can't really describe the feeling, it's just nice and it's something you can't emulate with a DVD. Not ideal for purist movie-watching experiences, but it helps evoke a certain mood and that's why I like it.

Best part is that VHS tapes are ridiculously cheap. I went thrifting one day and one store had a deal where you bought like 8 tapes for $5 (or something, I can't remember the exact deal but it was insanely cheap).
Old fuck post I know, but I wanna add to this.

I've had this phenomenon where when I watch an old show on DVD, it somehow feels "fake" or "not authentic." And no, I'm not talking about censorship changes or anything like that... just having clearer video and audio has somehow made the experience "wrong" somehow.

I also feel like it can break the immersion. There's been a few cases where you can see just too many details on a DVD or bluray that would've been blurred away on a VHS.

Also, I gotta agree with James Rolfe about this.... on VHS, you could ALWAYS fast forward past logos and commercials. This isn't always true on DVDs or blurays.

I honestly have a soft spot for VHS tapes. The previews used to be corny, yet fun.

I don't know if this was said before but I hate the wireless trend, yes I remember setting up the wires of my PS1 and PS2 and how it took half an hour to unscramble but constantly having to think about the battery life of your controller or headphones is annoying and fuck Apple and Samsung for making people buy $150 shitty earplugs just so you can listen to music.

Why is Google Chromebook a thing?

Such amazing feats like:
* Everything is on cloud
* Apps are curated on the Play Store
* A 800$ Chromebook has the specs of a 200$ laptop

It's marketed as this "lightweight computer" where you don't need hardware cause it's all on cloud/iot and you can game like on a 3000$ PC cause Stadia but it's all bs lol and they try to market it to tech illiterate people.

The ultimate "good goy" computer.

I hate the wireless trend
It's good I found a way to make a Wii remote run without batteries: use the AC adapter thing made for the original GBA.

An awkward fit and one kind of has to force it in, but it works. Wireless (and motion sensing) controllers weren't the best idea.

Seems if the future was like The Jetsons - but run by Big Tech - it'd be full of stupid hipster tech that would run in BS ways.

Yeah, for $800 you can get an actual gaming laptop with pretty good specs.

Its a thinkpad for people who don't know what a thinkpad is and are incredibly tech illiterate
