Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

Related to boxes, I do miss buying software in a big box containing, disks, manuals and everything needed to just use the thing. No hours of updates afterward or sudden breaking auto-updates.

On a related note, I bought Red Dead Redemption for Xbox 360. Comes with two discs, a manual, and a physical map. The DLC is on a separate disc. I miss when games would come with maps or manuals. Now, you just get a sleeve, if THAT.

I wish that tmobile or anyone would make a new version of the sidekick. That thing was a great portable point-of-sale for freelancing, keyboard for accuracy separate from the actual screen so you can see the lines you're typing in greater detail, headphone jack for card reader.....That thing earned it's keep

I wish that T-Mobile would improve their customer service.

I don't like how there's an app for everything. You need a sign-in for practically everything now.
I think that's an attempt at being overly cautious due to the data leaks they had. But it is coming off as intrusive

If you're not a data slut, it might be worth switching to a mvno. Many of them are still back to basics put your sim card, activate and have your mobile phone service. There are apps, but most mvno still have a traditional web portal for account services.

I switched to Consumer Cellular last year and it's shit. I used to have T-Mobile prior to it, but it was also shit. I guess I'll give brownie points for having a better, stable internet connection than Cox

How about the verizon network based mvno? Reviews for Consumer Cellular seem to be mediocre.

The Xbox 360 marketplace will shut down next year. This will render several games inaccessible through normal means if you haven't purchased them. If you're going to shut down a marketplace, have the content sold on there stored in a vault or in public domain. Some games you can ONLY purchase digitally. Case in point, the Wii U eShop and PS3's marketplace.

I don't have an issue with legacy marketplaces being discontinued, it's the content available on there that's concerning.

And that's why piracy is important.

The owners of every one of the eleven trillion "online file conversion tool" sites should be crucified while being boiled in oil. And they're all at the very top of the search results when looking for a way to convert files.

Just give me the utility itself, you piece of shit cocksucker motherfuckers.

This. Unless you let them go public domain, all those games, especially foreign games, are locked on those systems stores unless you pirate them. I shouldn't have to. Move that shit to your new console.
