Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

Everytime I see an add or a deal for smart lightbulbs and app controlled ones, I avoid them like the plague while my brain defaults to this video

That's the official, now delisted video on YouTube. There are parodies out there that extend the instructions or add more nonsense to "reset" the bulbs and people are falling for them

Doesn't have to be either of the two, you can just the shitty cancerous company that Jewgle is along with its pajeet in command. And HP for not burning Palm and their webOS to the ground, which led to this Duarte guy over here to render the majority of all devices on this planet a constant pain to use for their intended purposes.

I have mentioned it several times already, but I do not like how "Cloudflare" seems to be taking over the internet. It seems more and more sites are running on CF, and more and more sites are down: with "Cloudflare" BS errors like "connection timed out" this and "bad gateway" that. And that's not even getting into how "Cloudflare" can now block sites that are "an imminent threat to human life" now.

Even "The Library of Babel" site runs on "Cloudflare", and is giving an "origin is unreachable" BS error. FFS.

Most "gaming" tech that isn't just computers, because nine times out of ten, it's just a regular piece of computer equipment that's way more garish and way less functional, I swear I don't know how the angular, rainbow lit RGB aesthetic became so popular among grown ass adults.
They are now a status symbol. Reddit also encouraged people back in the day to add lightning to their setup so they looked Hi-Tech and futuristic. Streamers also made popular the use of leds on everything, so you now have companies chasing that trend and influencers encouraging people to get them.

I just want a new PC case that doesn't have tempered glass, RGB lights, it's easy on the eyes and it's priced reasonably. It's that too much to ask?!

By the way, I'm willing to die on the hill that LED strips behind a TV is one of the the dumbest thing to come out of this.

How the fuck am I supposed to use my cars systems without being a retard on the road?
How the fuck am I supposed to work in -20C snowdrifts on a FUCKING TOUCHSCREEN?
This is why you get a self driving car.
They're also fun to use in turbulence, even with the autopilot engaged.

Gamers are some of the dumbest consoomers.

A big problem with those is no tactile feedback, which makes pressing the wrong thing easier.
Tactile feedback and keys are a really good thing in "extreme" (read: most of the non-climate controlled us sans california) What I said about trying to fuck with touchscreens with gloves on in blizzard rings true the other way around, when it's 120F outside in a sandstorm or in the swamp-ass gulf coast.
Thus my bleeding hatred for touchscreens as I work in all three. But I guess since I don't work in an AC environment my opinion don't matter.

I laugh now at all the canadians that bought a Tesla or one of the modern smart cards.

First of all, the touch screen gets wet from humidity, and refuse to fucking respond.
Secondly, the 'high tech super advanced redesigned' bullshit mechanisms lock up on below freezing temperatures.
Nevermind that low temperatures and rain can fuck up the half assed electronics built into your car and cheap lithium batteries.

I wish street lights were orange again instead of a blinding white that hurts to look at.
AFAIK, all "white" LEDs -- LEDs that are not white from a combo of RGB -- are really blue, with a translucent yellow phosphor layer that glows when illuminated by that blue light. That yellow light from the fluorescence combines with the blue light going through the translucent substance to make white light. That older orange lights are sodium vapor lamps that work by passing an electrical current through sodium vapor (I think) and that characteristic orange light is in that emission spectrum of the sodium vapor.

Orange LEDs can be made -- and were even back in the 1980s -- but I guess blinding white ones are cheaper. And whoever is in charge may think bright white lights are safer.

Computer tech went downhill when it mainly started to be made for people not interested in tech.
Its not computer, but tech in general. The advent of "smartphones" and its consequences have been an unmitigated disaster for humanity. Prior to 2007 and the release of the iphone you had to have some general understanding of computers and a certain level of comprehension/problem solving to to get on the internet or anything interfacing with your computer.

Now everything is designed with the idea of the dumbest mother fucker in mind who only knows how to access their email or socialmedia platform by the icon on their phone. Everything possible gets dumbed down to meet their window licker level IQ.

And Chinese EVs (as well as their cars in general) are doubling-down on all of the minimum physical controls that Tesla popularized, and people still simp for them and whine that they can't be sold in the US and Canada. It's as if they don't know that Chinese cars cheapen and cost-cut the shit out of the things that you don't see in the car.

Yuh bro. I want those non-extinguishable poorly manufactured lithium batteries in my chinesium death-traps.

I've seen how chinesium electronics work. Do we really want them zooming in at 90mph on self-driving mode? I'm surprised many of them make it out of the dealership.

The poor design choices don't even begin to describe why chinese EVs are terrible. Would not be surprised if they spy on US infrastructure and worm every open wifi network they come across; if you'd know what Temu does behind the scenes, you'd expect the worst of the worst too!
