Google Music is so bad that I now just use VLC as a music player. It plays FLAC and let me sort by directory instead of tags only.

Mystery decisions annoys me, those would be part of the software enabled half-assed/half-finished and abandoned features and functionality that seems to become more common.

It's a pretty good mouse and it is repairable which is nice, that's a good decision. What's a pure mystery decision is the scroll wheel, it has that thing where it can be tilted and clicked left and right. What does that do? Absolutely nothing it would seem. It's like an undocumented opcode, a total mystery. Through trial and error I found out what it does though, if I hold the cursor over the speaker/sound icon on the taskbar I can lower and raise the volume by 10 per click in each direction. That's all it does. These button presses cannot be changed or expanded to other programs. MS Keyboard & Mouse center allows for macros and changing functions of keys, but not this one. Not even by going into the associated XML file and fucking around with the unlisted stuff does anything because it's not in there, it's hardcoded into the driver itself.

I miss being able to use booleans in searches, something you were able to do even in the old altavista search engine. Google dumbed everything the fuck down to the point you can search for specific things and get a thousand fucking results that don't even have the most important search term. This is yet another example of the evil cunts at Google doing away with functionality that used to exist with no explanation other than fuck you we're Google.

Or in some cases when I'm trying to click on something and the page instantly loads the second I click on it making me click something I had no intention on clicking.

-New bezel-less phones. I absolutely hate the new phones. It instantly cracked when I dropped it and now I have to get it repaired, just because I couldn't order a case right away. My old phones used to be able to take an impact and not shatter like dust. This was a Google Pixel 3a, for the record. Do not recommend.

-VR. Maybe it's just me and my astigmatism but sometimes, I get really motion sick when using the Oculus Rift headset. I'll concede it's not just a gimmick but the technology just isn't quite all there yet. If anyone is interested in this, I wouldn't mind doing a fuller review on the current headset, pics, etc. and a breakdown. Just let me know if that's something you think could make for an interesting post. (I'm still trying to learn what "a good post" is here, even still)

-Headphones. Why get rid of a perfectly working audio jack? I hate Apple.

Yup, on other mice the tilt-wheel serve a function, tilting it sends the action to the message queue in Windows using the WM_MOUSEHWHEEL message, it's standardized input. But not on this mouse, it does its own special thing bypassing all of that, but only for the tilt, so it cannot be intercepted in the message queue and rebound to something useful, it is stupid beyond belief.

I am honestly sick of fingerprint scanners on smartphones. I figured using one without for a while and then moving onto another that does would have been convenient, but any time I wash my hands or moisturize the sensor flat out refuses to recognize my print. Also, what's the point of having the password or pin methods if the OS decides on random occasions that it does or doesn't need the pin number? I'm to the point it isn't on my wish list whether or not my next smartphone even has one.

There's also using gum packets for spoofing sensors, so that is one backdoor to consider.

I hate these videos even more when I have to add 6 or 7 new filters to uBlock Origin to completely remove said video ... for just one site. Whoever invented this needs a blade-encrusted pineapple embedded into their anus. Sideways.

Adblock blockers as inline scripts that also happen to be obfuscated JS. They really want you to completely screw up site functionality by completely disabling scripts, except most of the time I actually get false positives on non-adblocked platforms.

I like the fingerprint scanners for accessibility, my phone is mostly used to play music so it is easy to change things around in the playlist but my phone... it has my banking, IDs, e-mail, local pay app...

Let's purchase some porn doujins on DLSite - what could go wrong?

After I downloaded the smut I found out that the files are not really the "normal" PDF files. Turns out these are "special" encrypted document files for which I need to use two pieces of software:

• Adobe Reader (commercial PDF viewer software, for fucks sake my browser can read PDF files for free)
• CypherGuard for PDF (what the fuck)

So get it - to open these files you have to use CypherGuard to type in your DLSite credentials. Then it will download a special license somewhere on your computer that lets you open the file and browse it.
So basically to read a simple comic you need a windows system with two bloatware software installed that talk to online server if I am allowed to see my comic. I'm treated as a potential thief who bought it solely to reupload the works to exhentai for upvotes and it misses the whole point of downloadable files. And now I have to screencap the doujin pages at high resolutions, or download them from sad panda in the first place if I wanted to have a reliable backup. I don't really blame DLSite since the seller can choose whether the files downloaded can be encrypted or not. Fuck you Rico, I hope they will find real child porn in your hard drive and you go to jail.

I fucking hate the streaming boom and prefer physical media.

Now, DVD and Blu-Ray are still around and I do think physical media will always be around in some form, even if it's just as a niche product.

But still, I'm hoping the streaming bubble pops sooner rather than later and while I don't think that streaming will go away completely, I'm not quite sure if it will fully replace all physical media.

For fuck's sake, vinyl came back entirely because of pretentious hipsters, even if it's just a niche product.

streaming will never go away, I think it'll actually expand. Soon you'll have to stream software to your desktop too. Won't have the code running on your computer, you'll only get to see the output. It's not like that's an entirely new concept either. Your PC/Phone whatever will just be a thin-client and everything will run in "the cloud". Pretty sure that's the endgame Microsoft & Google co. are envisioning. Will also make people much more controllable. Governments will love this!

What really grinds my gears the last few days is dependency hell in linux and how seemingly simple programs need a dozen libraries to run correctly. What an complete and utter mess. On top of that, gentoo's package maintainers get lazier and lazier and just throw all dependencies in, without use-flag configuration even sometimes including really really optional stuff as hard dependency. I miss simpler software that just needed the compiler and the basic libraries (libc etc.) and maybe one big and commonly used library if it was really complex or did something special like multimedia. I like to imagine that more modern software offers added value but I use old computers hobbywise a lot and often.. not really.
