That is true, but I've got so many wallpapers over the years specifically meant for 1920x1200 that I saved from now-defunct Deviantart and Tumblr accounts. It's not that big of a deal in the scheme of things, but it would be nice to make use of them without having to shrink/zoom it ever so slightly.

I find 2560x1440 to be a worthy successor to 1920x1200. The vertical resolution matters more than the exact aspect ratio, I think.
But by the time you get up to 4K you're probably just scaling everything up.

Which is an absolute waste of time unless you're on a Mac. Apple got things so right when they came up with Quartz all those years back.

I hate when I'm watching Youtube videos, and it temporarily pauses the video to turn down the resolution. It makes me rage inside every fucking time it happens. It's been lowering my videos from 1080p to 720p, but lately it's going all the way down to pixelated 480p. Instead of governments and ISPs blaming everybody for "hogging the network", how about they improve the infrastructure instead.

4K is overrated if the color isn't right.

SD to HD was a massive leap. HD to 4K, it's just a higher pixel count.

My Luddite ass is probably way late complaining about this in 2021, but I still hate standby technology, for lack of a better term. I miss being able to simply switch stuff on and off. Media devices barely even come with an on/off switch in the first place. Often even when there is a switch and you think you've turned it off, it still only entered some kind of hibernation/sleep mode or whatever with some LEDs blinking here and there. Granted I am a bit of a retard, and I myself don't own any devices like that, it's always stuff I see at friends' places or at work so I never dare tinker with them too much and am probably missing an easier solution. But still.

What you need to do is get a Chinese smart switch that stays on all the time so it can switch the power to the device on and off when you want it to.

There hasn’t been any tech trends that I “hate” but I the one I like the least is the modern PC gaming market. Does every bit of hardware have to glow? They also aesthetically look so pretentious and douchey.

I've got one with a 960GB SSD, that still works like a champ, and the kit is easy to fit. Look for a broken classic on eBay, as the HDDs always get wrecked, buy the adapter and the SSD and might as well get a new housing while you are at it and you'll have the best portable music player ever, with a battery life of nearly a week.

Going through some old phones, I saw a Samsung Galaxy S.

It was a touchscreen smartphone with a keyboard attachment. Why don't they continue with that idea? It made texting and Internet searching a breeze.

Touch screen keyboards can be unresponsive. The swish form of typing makes it better than typing each key one by one, but even that has its problems.

The other problem with touch screen keyboards is that it's way too easy to press the wrong key due to lack of feedback and sometimes the keys being too small. I have an S7 that I have had for years now, and I still can't get used to how small the spacebar is. I always end up punching in the wrong thing (usually periods) when I just want to space out the words. Even worse is that there's no way to configure the keyboard outside increasing size, but even that doesn't help. At least with a physical keyboard I can get a feel for the size of the buttons.

I remember on my phone I would use T8 word where you would press a few buttons and it would guess the word, I could type out a manifesto with that with perfect spelling and grammar as fast as a keyboard. Now on my phone I can barely get 3 words without fucking up.

Just shove the glowing parts into a plain case. You can turn off the lighting in the bios/UEFI. Did that with my motherboard.

It’s more like I don’t understand why. LAN lining is just about dead and PC gaming experts will always have that flair running and it looks pretentious. I’m aware I can turn it off and it doesn’t bother me it’s just the aesthetic screams “hey guys! Look how rich I am!” And it feels unnecessary especially when new hardware comes out.

Hmm. I prefer the physical keyboard obv, but when the keyboard is up, do you have a keyboard icon in the bottom right that you can click on to change keyboard settings (which should include the size and to some extent the items included, although it might well not allow you to change the spacebar) or change to another keyboard?

Also, do you have multiple languages enabled on your phone? That causes the arrows to appear on the spacebar to change languages on the Samsung keyboard.. rather than just being a spacebar.

You should also find that you can change to another keyboard from F-Droid or the Play Store.

There is that arrow and it allows me to access the settings. I can configure the size of the keyboard, but not the keys themselves. I've already fiddled with this before; my keyboard's at the largest size possible and the spacebar still feels small. The problem is it's not wide enough, which I can't do anything about. That's why I keep hitting period when I mean to hit space.

No. My phone's only set to English, so those arrows aren't there.

T9 was great for that and it could be done one handed. I never used both thumbs but those that did and put some effort in achieved insane speeds, I knew someone that got to the finals for a national competition that one of the big cellphone providers held. It's was a 2000's thing...

pre-iPhone smartphones with a physical keyboard required both hands but you could still look and talk to someone while writing by feel. Cool as heck!

I've been using it for close to a year and it's fucking great. Keyboard isn't as good as the old school BlackBerries but it still shits all over onscreen options. The 1:1 aspect ratio plays nice with just about everything except games and makes web browsing approximately 1,000% better. The battery life is unbelievable.

Two downsides, it weighs a metric ton and it might not fit in some front pockets, but you get used to it quickly.

16:9 is a horrible ratio for anything that isn't cinematic like movies or games. Texts and documents of all kind isn't cinematic though, the same goes for everything else in the A format of print. Imagine working on a poster on your(probably) 24" 16:9 screen and how much space will go unused, imagine a one page PDF even - the scaling is the same. Turn the screen to make it 9:16 and it starts to make sense.

5:4 is the greatest.

How else am I going to have 2 80 column width buffer open side by side on the same monitor?
