I just figured if it can be over ridden with a hosts file an alternative dns server, even one you set up yourself, should be able to do the job.

1. This means every user will be downloading and storing the database, or at least the stuff they're viewing. Storage is cheap but not everyone has TBs of free space. Also depending on where you live, some stuff could be illegal.

2. Putting a string of text (a url for example) is expensive enough on the blockchain. Not sure what you're suggesting but it sounds like it'll be very expensive.
3. Not a network engineer, these are just my thoughts.
