Feedback Technical Grievances

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
To be clear, this is only happening on Tor correct
Yes it's specific to Tor. Sometime the outage is long enough that I just own a normal window to keep browsing the site until the Tor one can connect again.

It's not as bad as it use to be. It's gone from.... idk 50% of page loads to just 10% of them.

Is the highlighted post function not running? Haven't seen any new ones all day. Am pretty sure USPG should have quite a few but nothing.

Sometimes (maybe like 5-10%) if I open a thread I haven't viewed before it will take me to a post other than an OP. Here is an example of a thread where this happened to me and the post it took me to:

I opened it a second time to test this and it took me to this post instead.

On subsequent attempts at opening it, I was taken to the OP as expected. I browse on desktop chrome and normally open threads by middle clicking on the title.

Edit: tried again and it seems to be working properly, will notify if it starts acting weird again.

Brave for android on proton VPN.

The highlight function seems to broken in uspg2 thread. Clicking next highlight just causes you to go back to the same post. It was working fine, then suddenly started happening like 15 min ago. I first noticed it on this post(make what you will of that):

The farms is laggy as shit on mobile rn and is making me refresh the page multiple times.
BIX NOOD MUH FUGGIN SLOW ASS WEBSITE SHEEEIT

I noticed if I click on notifications it takes a very long time to load vs last week.
The notifications tray has always been incredibly variable for me since joining the site. Usually it's on mobile that it seems extra slow, but it's completely random. I've had a similar issue with the DM tray, and if it seems slow I can click Show All and that usually loads a lot faster (probably because it's a new request for a new page rather than an update to the existing page). I haven't noticed it being worse than before, but I can't remember the last time I had the slow tray response.

I encountered a very edge case where one of the 8 different entry nodes for IPv4 only was mishandling requests. That should be fixed.

Edit @ 3:00pm I have also edited the frontends to be more generous with timeouts, which i believe may resolve the issue with hanging requests.

Somewhat frequently my browser will begin taking up more and more memory + cpu time. If I look at the built in task manager this will be a KF window with some tabs open, killing them will fix the issue. When they are being killed one tab will usually say it has several sub-frames. My gut feeling is that it's some (ajax?) request that gets stuck, never finishes, so continues to leak memory indefinitely or a request pulls in a kiwiflare challenge that never completes.

I'm reporting this because it happened just now with the tor browser taking up 20GB of memory with a couple dozen tabs if that open. Killing the group via the task manager in the screenshot solved this occurrence immediately. This has been going on for some time and is not related to the recent upgrades.

- Desktop, Artix
- Tor Browser, latest from AUR -bin package
- TOR

Screenshot before I killed the tabs (pls no dox):

I tried to get a screen shot as they were being killed but missed it. One of the tabs said it has 7 subframes and it stuck on that one for a bit while killing them. Also support jxl reeeeeee

Are the ones just listed as "Tab Kiwi Farms" the homepage? If so you might have had a couple of instances of Sneedchat running, and I've seen similar (but random) high memory usage from it as well.

Edit: ninja'd by null lol but at least it confirms it was chat

yeah that's because of chat, one day i'll fix it.

Interesting. So if I just never leave the homepage (or specific chat tab) open problem solved?

I can not upload any images, attach files, copy pasting (even images that are already on the Kiwi Farms), inserting images, all of these options do not work. At first I got a "Parsing response" error, but now I am simply not getting any errors.

Seems like it's not just me. I'm also on TOR.
