Feedback Technical Grievances

The embeded chat for the Health & Fitness sub-forum is squashed so hard that it's realistically nigh impossible to use it.

click the empty area to the right of the Chat header, which should expand chat. clicking on the word Chat itself will bring you to the chat-only page, so, you know, don't click that

Someone came to the linux thread wanting to get people to join a discord they wanted to make for non-tranny linux users. Because he gets banned for being a chud from every linux discord server. After everyone told him he was a retarded nigger who should probably just kill himself for using discord. Someone mentioned asking you about adding a chat for the linux thread for tech support. Since the thread itself is so general it's not the best for getting help with an issue. I don't know if he ever ended up asking for it. Seeing that reminded me of it though. And I figured I might as well ask myself.

How do I disable keyboard shortcuts? For instance, Numpad End refreshes the site. I have foobar global keys (volume adjustment etc.) assigned to numpad keys and it's annoying. I use Windows 10 and Firefox 140. This doesn't happen on other sites.

Something seems to be going on with the sound of videos on the site now. I noticed it early this morning. Then coming back and trying to play a video it's still happening. Clicking on the sound icon thing isn't doing anything.

I looked around for other videos to make sure it wasn't just happening on certain ones. The weird thing is. While the page is still loading I will see the volume bar. Then once it's done it changes to that muted icon.

I'm going to reboot, into another drive I have to check if it's happening on that too. In case this is some weird issue on my end. Since I don't see anyone else mentioning it.

edit: actually. yes. wtf. sound is working on videos in the other system. I'm going to reboot back into the other one and see if that's still happening. The odd thing is youtube videos, and everything else were acting as I would expect them. just not videos on the site

You're using a browser that doesn't have every audio codec and those videos are using non free codecs. It's not the site. Blame the uploader

ok. I just rebooted back. and it is still happening on this system. It wasn't happening before is the thing that is confusing me. It could be that I accidentally removed the codec's cleaning out the packages on my system or something. But it is happening still. If it's just my end then I'll look into what I need to do. I see that even the video/song on the front page is doing it actually. If it's a codec issue. It must have gotten removed when i cleaned out orphaned packages or something.

It wasn't doing it before because you were looking at other videos...

No the ones at the top I uploaded myself. I for sure watched at least a few after uploading because I wanted to make sure everything uploaded properly.

I didn't solve the actual problem, at least not completely. but I narrowed it down. It's something with this specific browser, on this system. I just downloaded plain chromium, and audio works there. I normally run a firefox based browser.

I decided to download some more browsers to test this out. All the other firefox based browsers I've downloaded are doing this. But for some reason, chromium isn't. But whatever it is. It's consistently happening across all the firefox based browsers I have tested.

I also installed gst-plugins-bad and gst-plugins-good since they are meta-packages that pull in a ton of codecs and libraries. So it would likely pull in anything I may have been missing.

and i already had ffmpeg and everything that pulls in.

I don't know what's actually causing it. But if it's only me this is happening to. I'll just move over to chromium to view the site, since it's working there for whatever reason.

Dear leader, in the Big Boys section, if viewed from the front page and it says "15 minutes ago" for the last post made, it isn't a hyperlink to that post. It's just plaintext.

It should be possible to click it to go to the exact post as it does on the other subforums

Hello. I have been a quiet reader of the farms for a couple of years. I don't have an account because I rarely have anything meaningful to contribute.

Ever since the theme was messed with a couple of months ago, the default style for non-logged in users has been the light theme rather than the dark one. To make matters worse, when you manually switch to the dark theme, the setting isn't saved because it's stored as a session cookie rather than a persistent one.

It would be great if this could be fixed, thanks.

Change your system or browser default. I've looked into this and I cannot find an elegant way to default it to dark

I noticed that the “Community Feature Submissions” and the "Latest watched" heading has a dotted underline. It makes the text a bit harder to read and looks visually inconsistent with the rest of the site’s design.

Could you please consider changing it to a solid line or removing it altogether for a cleaner look?

"I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS A LINK"
"THE LINE IS UGLY"

I AM GOING TO FUCKING SNAP
I got ya buddy.

JavaScript:
<script>
  if(Math.floor(Math.random() * 2) < 1) {
     var cfslink = document.evaluate("//a[text()='Community Feature Submissions']", document, null, XPathResult.FIRST_ORDERED_NODE_TYPE, null).singleNodeValue;
     cfslink.style.textDecoration = "none";
  }
</script>

(It'd be cleaner if the CFS link had an ID but I assume adding that in Xenforo is more trouble than it's worth.)

I have put in an incredible amount of work to move over to a new filesystem. On top of this I have also found several issues that undoubtedly were causing serious issues with how well the site loaded. I cannot even begin to describe how profoundly fucking retarded XenForo's design is.

starting a day or two ago, for the first time since i started using the site, i was able to play an embedded video and then scrub to multiple points and NOT have the video sit there for 20 seconds waiting to load. thank you for doing the needful saar
