Attachment links to embedded video files in quotes are broken and give a 404 page.

Example:

The "View attachment 3282312" link is https://kiwifarms.is/attachments/3282312/ and it redirects to https://kiwifarms.is/attachments/trim-48f77588-7e33-4d6c-978f-479db1f03161-mov.3282312/ which is 404 Not Found.

If you go to the post, the video address is actually https://no-cookie.kiwifarms.is/data/video/3281/3281669-58a80eadeb6b2d24bb24c3e70ecbcb30.mov

I though maybe it's because it's a GIF. So I tried with a PNG and I got a slightly different error message:


Also, I couldn't upload the screenshots so I had to use an external image host. And even so, the images won't display when I use IMG tags.

Sorry for using imgur. I don't know of any image hosts that are BASED.
 
What's up with the image uploading?

I'm getting the "oops! We ran into some problems!" Or "The upload failed because the file couldn't be written to the server. The site administrator will need to resolve this before any files can be uploaded." Error messages.

I'd post a screencap, but I can't upload an image in this thread either.

It's not just images, attachments don't work either.

It acts like it goes to 100% but it doesn't and the file is blank. Doesn't matter the size of the file.

So that's like 6 thousand gigabytes I guess?

Jesus. The site is going to have to need an actual farm to house all its data storage at this rate.

I have to wonder how much of is that duplicated data, just because I see the same pics and videos posted as attachments several times in threads, quite often.

Quite a bit. Sneedforo has built in file deduplication. I expect that when deduplication is ran and certain dead files (I don't want to disclose how they're mad just in case) are cleaned we'll recover a lot of disk space.

However, the new software uses AWS S3 API for file storage and with MinIO we can set up a more robust decentralized way of storing files.

I'd wondered/worried about that for some time. I'm glad there's a process to reduce that load. I bet running this site is a lot more of a pain in the ass than you let on. Outside of the obvious, the troonmobbing ddos attacks and the halfbaked lawsuits of the insane, I mean, Just the day to day stuff. We appreciate you.

This might be the most retarded idea I've ever had, but after reading the first post all those years ago about host issues meaning some stuff was lost....

If you set up a (compartmentalised) blockchain backup of the site (say 100gb per section) you might get enough kiwis to host it as a backup.

Yeah this was a silly idea. I can't code that compartmentalisation, and there's no way anyone would seed the entire thing.

Encryption? But yes, fair point.

Maybe have the ability for you to delete stuff from it. Doesn't have to be exact blockchain tech. It's for backups, not financial records.

But yeah, it is a bad idea.
 
In articles and happenings can you possibly implement a feature that disables the images under a users name? IE: the uvalde thread constantly loads the three images under the OPs avatar every page and it’s a small annoyance when I use the next highlight feature

Edit: I’m using Mobile now so maybe it’s different on desktop

Repeated issues reacting to posts, on multiple browsers. Has anyone found a permanent fix to them not working about half the time?
