Feedback Technical Grievances

This is a weird one: since 30th June the desktop website would, at random, stop working and just produce a "page could not be loaded" message after a very long load time. Not the DDOS one with the steps where it failed, just the generic message about antivirus, extensions etc. This would happen seemingly at random and the only way to fix it was to delete the Kiwi Farms cookies and restart my browser (Google Chrome). I have a hunch that this may be linked to me being logged into the same account on my mobile browser, as it always seemed to recur after I browsed on my phone for a bit, and hasn't happened since I deleted my mobile cookies/cache a couple hours ago. (plus during these times when it was broken on desktop, could still use on mobile just fine.) Will update if it starts happening again but it was the strangest bug I've ever encountered.

edit: It just happened again. Website works if I open it in incognito mode so the cookies are definitely the issue. Gonna stay off the farms on my phone for a bit to see if that's the problem.

edit 2: Phone is not the problem. Tried deleting specific cookies and it appears the site is running out of local storage.

Anyone else having problems with memory leaks lately? The past week or so it seems like there's one tab from the farms that's eating all my RAM and ends up crashing when it uses it all up after having it open for a couple hours. Today it was the front page. Yesterday it was a random thread. Since it's so recent I'm wondering if it has to do with the Sneedchat in some way.

I just discovered that going to the front page to see featured content and click the link to community updates removes (un-alerts) updates for thread subscriptions because "watched threads" is on a sidebar. Don't like it and I sometimes wonder why I'm months behind on threads that I follow.
 
I don't seem to be able to delete polls or remove/edit options anymore. Is there some sort of limit to changing polls in a thread or is it broken? The only options the edit button gives me are adding new options and setting when it closes.
 
When you open an image for viewing and click the thumbnails icon on the top right it hides the thumbnails at the bottom, making the image bigger. I believe it use to be default behavior that thumbnails were hidden, but at some point that changed. I have no problem clicking the thumbnails when I'm viewing an image then scrolling to the next one without exiting, but when for instance there's text to read between images I have to close the image, read the text describing the retardation, then click the next image, then click thumbnails to hide the thumbnails again. Maybe I'm a bit obsessive over not seeing thumbnails but I prefer the cleaner view without them and just use the arrow keys on the keyboard or clicking them on screen.

Also when thumbnails appear it will show spoiler content which is sometimes NSFW. It would be nice if it would persist thumbnails on/off so I don't have to click to hide them every time.

Anyone know if it's normal not to be able to edit/delete your own posts that are more than a few hours old? I can't tell if I've been banned from doing so or if that's a site issue. I haven't done anything weird and I sometimes gotta wait for archiving to finish processing so I can edit them in.

It's normal now, although funnily I don't think it used to be the case. I think there were a few cases of people editing/deleting their old posts (and even thread OPs) because of blackmail or troll's remorse, so Null put in this new restriction at some point.
There are a lot of hidden/obfuscated restrictions for accounts based on status / account age, so maybe senior members still have the ability to edit their old posts, but I'm not sure.

Can't insert images or video links. The options are grayed out and when I click on them, nothing happens. Can't even select the bold or italics buttons.

You're in BBcode mode. Click the 3 dots menu at the far right of the editor and then click the [ ] icon.

Thanks mate! Don't know how it got set that way, but the issue is resolved.
