Feedback Technical Grievances

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I can't use kiwifarms anymore on PIA either. I am on the latest version. I thought the site was down but upon switching it off the site loaded fine. I had to use tor to login instead. I'm also using brave. I tried using a different browser (edge, the only other one I have available) and it says the kf DNS server can't be found.

Edit: I figured it out. The site is now being blocked by the MACE option. Turn it off and the farms will load.

Brilliant, this fixed my problem. Wonder why KF all of a sudden was designated malware? I know the cryptominer from a few years ago caused issues but afaik nothing changed in the past week.

They're using that shitty list by that autistic moron, another reason to denigrate this particular service.

One of the videos I've uploaded in this thread doesn't have sound when I try to play it back.
Works fine on my computer with the local copy though.
Any advice on what i might be doing wrong or guidelines on preferred video formats?
Thanks.
(i've got it working in the meantime by converting it to a webm in ffmpeg, but they were both MP4's, and only one of them lost sound, so if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears still)

The audio issue could be something like HE-AAC which isn't as widely supported. I generally stick to h264 video (use -c:v libx264 with -pix_fmt yuv420p for best compatibility) with AAC audio. MP4 is okay as a container but I generally use -movflags +faststart to move the moov atom to the beginning of the file instead of the end (never use MP4 for a transient video source; the moov atom still cannot be written until the file is complete, and if the source becomes invalid or unreadable I've found that ffmpeg can terminate abnormally without finalizing the output, i.e. it'll be broken - use the MKV container instead to sidestep this potential issue; you can always transfer the A/V data streams to an MP4 container later very quickly if you don't re-encode anything).

"Wow" "wow" mid-word comes up relatively often in Polish and it's annoying reading shit like "nerwowy" every couple hundred words. Requiring a space either before or after "Wow" "wow" for the emojification in Polish threads would be a sufficient fix, and I don't need to tell you that you probably want to just do it for the whole Internationale Clique and be done with it

Use the plain tag to remove formatting like that.
Without: nerwowy
With: nerwowy

People can't ever be bothered to fix it when it breaks verbatimness when directly quoting a cow, and you expect anyone to be fixing this shit?:optimistic:
If it bugs you, you can fix it. If you choose not to, well, obviously you don't care that much.

Yeah! But it's not language-specific at all AFAICT and is way less prevalent, meanwhile, as I said, you're gonna encounter mid-word "wow" every couple hundred Polish words you read and it's seriously annoying instead of a fun quirk at that point. If the goal was to eliminate all inadvertent insertions, those two emotes would obviously need to change. But then :) -> :) can be an inadvertent insertion and where the fuck do you draw the line:?::?::?:

I can't fix it in other people's posts though unless I pester :null: about it. And having to plain-escape but only when speaking Polish is literally like being a nigger, faggot, kike or polack under Nazis:dienull::cryblood:
